So welcome to my new website!

Can I begin by saying that I hope you like the content and find it easy to navigate. If you don’t – or if you have any suggestions for how it could be improved – please let me know. The whole idea is to help keep me in touch with my audience…and, of course, vice versa. Whenever I’m out doing talks or signings, my movements will be posted here. If there's any news, I’ll try to make sure it appears on this site first. From time to time I’ll add odd bits of writing: short stories, journalism, poems, cooking recipes…whatever springs to mind. You might also find occasional quizzes and competitions.

Often I wake up completely confused about what I’m meant to be doing - I work in so many different areas. And I’m always working on two or three things at once.

Right now, for example, I’m re-writing the scripts for my new BBC television series, NEW BLOOD, which starts shooting in August. Even as I sit here, our brilliant casting director, Gary Davy, is searching the country for the 28-year-old and 26-year-old actors (quite possibly unknowns) who will play the leads. I’m also doing final polishes to my play, DINNER WITH SADDAM, which opens at the Menier Chocolate Factory in London in September. And I’m 40,000 words into my next novel, MAGPIE MURDERS which should be published in 2016.

Publication day for my new James Bond novel, TRIGGER MORTIS is on September 8th and I have that to look forward to. I’ll be on tour in the UK and then in America and Canada. There are two or three literary festivals penciled. Tomorrow, I’m heading off to Crete where I’m spending the rest of the summer, writing and getting a bit of sunshine.

Inevitably this site will be a bit chaotic. Fortunately, I have Liam Fitzgerald in Ireland who created it and my assistant in London who will organize it. And while I’m doing the name checks, I ought to thank Jack Lawson who took the photographs of me at the top. Between us, we’ll try to keep you entertained.

And finally, a signed Alex Rider to the first person who can spot the Alex-related name that I have cunningly concealed in this introduction. That’s the general idea. What’s the point of having a website if it isn’t fun?
