Somehow, though, Anthony Horowitz — well known as the author of the Alex Rider novels for young people and the scriptwriter for a number of British television series (most notably “Foyle’s War”) — managed to free the manuscript a few years in advance of that century mark. All readers and Sherlock Holmes fans will be grateful that he has.

On page 125; “Holmes leant over the gasogene and lit his cigarette.”
It appears that we are meant to understand that he used the gasogene to light his cigarette. Quite a trick; a gasogene is the Victorian equivalent of a seltzer bottle.
Will the new series of Foyle’s War be set after the war or will it be set in the missing period from the previous series
Absoluetly loved it couldnt put the book down, hope you right some more Sherlock Holmes books.
