Thrilled to Death : Anthony Horowitz interviewed by NPR
In our series Thrilled to Death, suspense writers talk with us about their work, and then recommend the books they love.
Author Anthony Horowitz loves nothing more than when a young fan asks him to sign a battered copy of a book in his Alex Rider series — young adult fiction featuring a skateboard-riding teen spy. The series’ ninth and final novel, Scorpia Rising, will be published in April 2011.

it’s great to learn that a new alex rider novel will reach us so soon. I can’t wait to read more about scorpia and alex’ adventures. Although I have to admit that I’m very anctious for the next power of five novel. Since Alex’ adventures are coming to an end I hope he will spend as much time at the power of five series. Especially since the next novel of that series wil not be a remake of his previous work, but a completely new capter to this marvellous tale. I was writing a report on anthony horowitz for school when suddenly I was told he was on npr. So I listened to it. Ive only read stormbreaker (which is awesome) but after hearing anthony horowitz on the radio I decided I just had to read the rest of the series. Now I have to finish my report.
NPR that is great news!!! I wish you could visit schools in California. Oh well i still love your books!

Skateboard-riding? Skateboards aren’t especially significant in the Alex Rider series, I thought. xD Can’t wait for Scorpia Rising, can’t wait to find out Smithers’ last secret (he’s my favourite character), can’t wait to find out who dies!
I LOVE the Alex Rider Series- I’ve read most of the books- they’re all so good!! Sometimes I borrow them twice cause they’re really awesome!
I thought there was a tenth book planned about Yassen Gregorovitch? Maybe he’s not counting it as part of the series…

i’ve actually met Anthony and yes it was one of the most memorable event of my life. I hate to think that we’ve to say gudbye to Alex, but as i always say, a story must end fr a new one to begin.
I hope Anthony Horowitz will begin another series very similar to Rider’s only with a different character.

I completely love Alex Rider and don’t want it to end either, but I loved Yassen and can’t wait for the book about him. I hope it’s actually a book and one of those little kid books thin books because although they are related they aren’t fun to read. Like J K Rowling has Tales of the Beadle Bard and it’s what? 50 pages? Less? I want a semi-real book. Or! Maybe it could be Alex doing something and stumbling across Yassen’s history. That way we could see Alex one last time and it would more of a story. Are you there Mr. Horowitz? If you haven’t already decided on how your going to do the book maybe could try something like this?

My wife and I are holding on to our unseen dvd of the final Foyle’s War of Season 7, putting off our viewing of the end of this fabulous series. It ranks with “MI5″ (“Spooks” in the UK), and the long-gone “Sandbaggers” as British series that can deal with death (Raymond Chandler called it the “ultimate frustration of the individual”) and bureacracy realistically and entertainingly and with top-notch performances by the acting ensemble. And, as a bonus, my uncle came from Hastings.
Alex rider is the best, I’ve read them all and they all are awesome. does anybody know when the last power of five book is coming out. someone pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeee answer

I have just re-read Necropolis for the fourth time, and I was wondering when will the last installment be out? I know that it’s going to take a long time to write, but if you could, Mr. Horowitz, just take some time out from Alex Rider and write the Power of Five with your full attention now please

My first book i read of his was Ark Angel, which hooked me and after that more of the alex rider series and i was taken hook, line, and sinker. Then a few months ago I started reading the power of the five and i plowed right through them till the last one.(so far) which was one of the most epic cliff hangers ive ever read. You have especially given me inspiration and direction for books I want to write, and now im not kissing up but I will probobly will never write books good as you. I klnow you get a lot of fan baha and yays and yahs. So I will tell you this as if i were your freind for many years………..If you stop writing, I wouldnt know what too say. But i have a few questions to ask. Will you make any more epic series like Alex’s and Matt’s? Where do you aquire knowledge, I know you have to take monthes of your time to write these books? I think im probobly dragging this reply on. So even if you just read this but not answer the questions…………I am just honored even if you read this

I’ve pretty much read the whole series and its awesome. I restarted it and i’m on Ark Angel. I never really finished Crocodile tears but will when I get to it. My favorite book is Snakehead. I can’t wait until Scorpia Rising comes out.

I have read and re-read the AR series and Po5 series so many times. when is the next Po5 book out I cant wait. have to say I reckon Po5 is a fraction better than AR. Also is there any way to pre book the books?. If anyone could tell me when these books are out would appreciate it.

Hey Anthony, I think that the Alex Rider series is the BESt most AWESOME series in the world! I learned abiut the series while I was in school, and the other fifth grade teacher (the one I dont have) decided to read it to her class. My friend told me about it and I started it immedieatley! I am currently on Scorpia, and to this day I spend litteraly ALL NIGHT reading the books!
I swear I think I’m going to cry when I finish the series on Scorpia Rising.
I am completely ecstatic that there will be another book. I started reading Alex Rider books in the fourth grade and are hooked on them. When I moved to Wisconsin here in America, I read a lot so I finished the series and have been anticipating the release of Alex’s next edge-of-your-seat thriller since I put down crocodile tears I have eagerly waited to get my hands on the next Alex Rider. I can already tell that the next book will be well written and have a grteat plot. Now all I have to do is wait a few more months…
hey mr. horowitz and all fans! im’m writing from the U.S. and i just got done listening to the interview. it’s a great one! mr. horowitz does say that this is DEFINATELY, POSITIVELY THE LAST BOOK in the series. he says that there isn’t any where to build off it. while this is a bummer, i’m glad that it comes to SOME sort of finallity. hope it turns out alright. can’t wait for the nest power of five! mr. horowitz, you are a fantastic writer, but PLEASE hurry and at least start the next one!!

like i believe that the last book was the best, but way too shocking. I can’t believe – died and – is still alive. – being skinny is so unbelievable. Even though I knew that eventually Alex was going to kill someone in cold blood it was still a surprise.
P.S. Are you ever coming to Australia to sign books and stuff?
