A News blog for Anthony Horowitz

A BRIEF BLOG BEFORE THE LONG, HOT SUMMER

Just a few words before I pack my bags and head off to the South of France. I’m going to be there for a month and the original plan was to finish CROCODILE TEARS there in peace and quiet…but as you may know, that’s all changed.

The book is already finished – and in second draft. And the big news is that my publishers in the UK and the USA have decided to release it early. They want it in the shops in the run-up to Xmas which of course (as usual) has put a lot of pressure on me to deliver. The publication date is November 12th. As soon as the book is out, I’m flying to the USA for a ten-city tour which means planes, limousines, hotels, shopping malls, media escorts, sandwiches, signings, miles and miles of freeways, local radio stations and distant branches of Barnes & Noble. Not entirely my idea of fun and always pretty exhausting. The only good bit is meeting the booksellers and chatting to American readers but it’s always such a rush that in the end it just becomes a blur.

Anyway, enough complaining. The main thing is that (I think) the book has really worked. It’s probably the most violent and action-packed AR yet – though that may change once my various editors get their hands on it. The violence, I mean. My favourite things in it are a greenhouse full of poisonous plants, a nasty journalist, a climax that really does throw everything you could possibly imagine at the page and a last chapter which I actually planned about five years ago.

I’m trying not to give too much away.

Now I’m in that strange, nervy time between finishing a book and waiting to see it in the shops. Whenever I get to the last word, I always think that it’s the best thing I’ve ever written. Then the doubts set in. By the time publication day arrives, I’m convinced it’s no good at all. But you know what I’ve always said. Each book has got to be better than the one before and that, at least, is what I’ve tried to do with CT.

Incidentally, the early publication of CT means that my collection of horror stories, MORE BLOODY HOROWITZ won’t now appear until 2010. So you’ll have to wait a little longer to find out what happens to Darren Shan.

A few other bits and pieces about 2009 so far…

I’ve just got back from an amazing trip to China where I was a guest of Dulwich International College in Shanghai. I’d never been to China before and didn’t think I’d like it as much as I did. It’s all so strange…communist government, capitalist society – this vast region that has only recently connected with the rest of the world. I loved the people I met (very open, very friendly), the incredibly brash and innovative buildings (high point was the Bird’s Nest stadium in Beijing) and the foreign-ness of it all.

Of course, I was just a dip-my-toe-in-the-water tourist. Maybe you picked up some of my Tweets. The Forbidden City, the terracotta warriors, the Great Wall etc. But the trip was huge fun. My favourite thing – an extraordinary spectacle in a huge square in Xi ‘An. Late at night, thousands of people getting themselves drenched by powerful jets of water spraying out of the ground as classical music boomed all around and multi-coloured spotlights cut through the darkness. Everything was synchronised, the fountains exploding in time to the music. All this in 40 heat! I just loved it. Anyway, here’s a picture of me in the Bird’s Nest. Just for the hell of it…

This summer has also seen the completion of the new series of Foyle’s War. The last time I blogged, I mentioned that it might be the end of the road for Foyle – and I was a little horrified to see the story picked up by the tabloids. So let me say here that no decision has been made and I have no idea if I’ll be writing it next year or not. What matters is that the new series is really, good I think. Really well directed. And interesting stories including the Russians in England, segregation in Hastings and a weird organisation called the British Free Corps (British soldiers in Nazi uniforms). If you live in Suffolk, watch out for a charity screening this October, at the cinema in Aldeburgh. I’ll be there!

We’ve also screened Collision a couple of times. That’ll be in ITV in November or December and I’m really excited about it as it’s so different to anything I’ve ever done. And that’s it. I’m off to Marlborough today for my son’s last day at school (and no more school fees, thank God!). By the way, he’s got a great blog that’s worth checking out: cass for questions is the name. I like it, anyway. I’m spending quite a bit of July in Suffolk, probably working on the book once my editors have savaged it. I’ve got one more TV series to write this year but that’s just about it which is just as well as I’m pretty knackered.

I hope you all have a great summer and for those of you waiting for exam results, fingers crossed (Cass doesn’t seem to fazed…but then he revised extremely hard for at least one afternoon).

Have fun…

Hey!! I am your BIGGEST fan in the world! Actually I’m a bit broke and I live in Egypt and I can’t go on the Internet whenever I want, so whenever I do get to go on, I immediately type in anthonyhorowitz.com to see what’s new. And I sure am happy about the Alex Rider CT – I absolutely can’t wait! One question – will Sabina or Tamara Knight be in CT? Because sometimes I just can’t stand reading when it’s all about boys, boys, boys. But even if it is only about boys, I won’t mind – it’ll still be my fave book I’m sure.
    Keep writing!!!
P.S. My cousin says that the Power of Five series is really good, but I always insist the Alex Rider books are best. What do yuo think Mr. Horowitz? I doubt you’ll read this but if you do please answer, I just want to prove to my cousin that I am right! Thanks!! Or, in Arabic, ‘shookran’!

  8. Adam July 18th, 2009 9:47 pm

Ohhh. I can’t wait for Collision. Or Crocodile Tears. Or the last Power of Five. Or…

You should write new Diamond Brothers.

  11. Vijay Gandhi July 19th, 2009 5:59 pm

I am an adult of 45 and my son who is now 14 forced me to read the first Alex Rider book 2 years ago. Since then I have read all of Alex Rider books and just finished the latest PO5 episode which has left me gob smacked and desparte to read the final book.

The wait is too long but I am sure it will be worth it.

I will have to read the diamond series to keep me going until CT comes out.

Well done Anthony for making reading so enjoyable.

  12. fern hall July 19th, 2009 7:49 pm

Yes it is me again saying… YAH November!!!! Oh I want to see collision but I’m American so it probably won’t be on the BBC America any time soon!!! Like we just got torchwood children! I saw the first part in ireland which was great!(that and top gear!) I wish we got foyles war here! I looks soooooooooooooooooo good!!! Oh when you come to the us will you be in the NJ area? Oh say in morris county? Any way I’m probably boring you with my little ramble! Though just want to say you are in my top three authors! You kirsten miller and Christopher paolini! Any way bye!

I can’t tell you how happy we are that Christopher Foyle lives and will detect on another day. When will we see him on PBS here in the colonies? Learning that there will be more episodes is like going to the library and finding some unread books of a favorite author, like Dorothy Sayers or Eric Ambler. Makes us very happy.
    Aloha, Peter in Honolulu

  16. jenn July 22nd, 2009 5:43 am

    mr Horowitz.
your writing is so good, and i am so excited for the next Alex book to come out. my only concern is that publication and stuff about CT was only meant for USA and UK. here in Canada, we are also HUGE fans. could you let us know about Canadian news as well? thanks. :)

    Good Morning:

I’m a much older reader who always enjoys previewing books which I buy for my nieces and nephew. We are enjoying the Power of 5 very much, and wonder when the last book will be out?

Thank you so much for your expertise.

  20. Daniel July 30th, 2009 12:04 am

    Yes!

When I heard from a friend that another Alex Rider book was coming out after Snakehead I had to check your website! I love the Alex Rider Series and was pretty sad when I thought that there would be no more coming out. I can’t wait for it to come out on November 12th.

Thanks for writing Alex Rider Books!

  21. Mary Beth July 30th, 2009 2:04 am

It’s so fantastic that you have another Alex Rider book coming out soon- November 12th and that maybe you’ll be coming to a bookshop nearby me so that I can say “thank you to you personally”.
I only got into reading about Alex Rider just this last May, and have now read all of his adventures, all of the Power of 5 books, even the original 2 from way back -all thru our library system in Orange County, CA. I’ve even seen the “Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker” Movie. I really enjoyed that too.
Now my friend’s son and my cousin’s son are both reading your Alex Rider Books and Power of 5 books. I haven’t shown them the movie yet.

  22. Roger Widmer July 30th, 2009 8:08 am

My students and I can’t wait for the next AR! Every year one of my first read alouds is Stormbreaker followed by the movie. Some of the later books I’ve actually ordered from UK long before publication in the US so my students can read them before anyone else here! AR is one of the favorite book series of many of my students. Sounds like Crocodile Tears will be published here at the same time–well done!!

  23. Erin July 30th, 2009 7:24 pm

Hi! I live in England and I just wanted to say that the power of five books are amzing! I read all of them in four days( a book-a-day!) and just wanted to ask when the last book comes out, as there are very few books that are of the same gengre an standered of excitement as yours? My fav characters are matt and scarlett!

Thank you for writing such a great series of books!
P.S I love the alex rider series as well! Xxx

  24. Randi August 1st, 2009 11:32 pm

    Hey Anthony!
I’m a 17-year-old girl from Norway, and I simply love the AR-series, they’re of my absolute favourites, ever since Stormbreaker came out and I read it on Norwegian as a part of a reading project on school:)
I dream of becoming an author myself, and you’re a great inspiration. I can’t wait for Crocodile Tears (awesome title, by the way) to be published!
    -Randi
PS: Come visit Norway some time! It’s a beautiful country!

    And mr horowitz

Once I was supposed to bring a book to school
to read, so I brought Evil Star but the night before I accidently started reading it and by the time I got to school, I finished it. So during class I was in trouble
    for having nothing to read.

I blame you for making it so intresting.
    Nah, I’m just joking.
And can you update all of those kids everywhere in the
    world, including me about po5
It will make waiting a whole lot easier,

    mr. anthony horowitz
there is no dought what so ever that you are the greatest writier of and for all time. i am estatic that you are writing another Rider. i was so inspired I even started to write my own book with Alex as a main character
tought it didn’t quiet work because in the middle i read snakehead and as always his attitude changed dramaticly afterwords. i don’t belive at all that there will be any disspointment in crocodile tears. please post like a list of locations if your going to come to california at anytime.

    sincerly,
    your greatest fan
    felicity borries, age 11

ps the books you’ve written have created worlds you can lose your self , you become one with the person and when you try to think about it you can’t, those thoughts stop cold on the page , when you start to read you become that person. Your writting is truly magical.

  29. Todd August 3rd, 2009 6:12 pm

hello Mr Horowitz! This is my first post to you and what a pleasure it is! i follow your tweets and i just can’t wait for CT to come out! thank you for finishing the next installment of Alex Rider early!
gosh, i cant beleive how busy being a writer is but counting all your holidays, i guess it has its blessings too! ;) considering i’m hoping to be a writer anyway!
good luck for your son, im waitiing for a GCSE’s resuklts to come and very nervous. its the same kina feeling of what you feel when finishing a book, you think you’ve done well then you start to doubt yourself to a point where you’re convinced that you’ve failed everything. well, i think thats enough of my blabbering! good luck with all your projects!

  31. guillaume August 6th, 2009 12:11 am

    Hello M. Horowitz,

I’m Guillaume from Belfort (France). I’m 29 years old. Last week, I was looking for a book in my personal library, and I found some of your books: the pentagram serie. It’s been like a Madeleine de Proust to me because I started to read these books when I was about 9 or 10 years old… I have never forgotten how much I loved them. They were the first books I read for pleasure…

So I started to read them again… And it’s still really good! It’s just a shame that… Well, you know, for the “no end” and all…

Anyway. I remember that, when I was 10, I wanted to write you a letter to say how much I enjoyed my readings (including the Diamond Brothers…). Except that I did not know english at that time! Now that I can (try to) write in english I’m doing it.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! (And sorry if this makes you remember that time is passing by!)

  32. Drew August 9th, 2009 1:43 am

I would just like to say that, while I’m an adult, I also love the Alex Rider stories (makes me wish I could go back and become a teenager again). I’m really happy to hear about the early release of the next book in the series!

  33. Evelyn Benson August 9th, 2009 6:53 am

Hi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 I live in the same place as Matt freemans family (Hawkes Bay New Zealand)!!! (I just wanted to tell you that):) AND telling you that I’m wako about all your books. BYE BRO!!! (bro=mate=friend I guess)(: goodbye!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  34. Zina August 9th, 2009 7:15 am

More Foyle’s War? I hope it makes its way across the pond quickly. Speaking of ponds, count me as one American who’s shocked that your American editor hadn’t heard of crocodile tears. Great title!

Oh, P.S., I know it’s far too late to revise Skeleton Key, but all the same I can’t resist telling you that American kids certainly would say “jam.” Over here, jelly and jam are both fruit preserves that are spread on bread, and although there’s probably some technical difference between the two, in my experience the two terms are pretty much used interchangeably.

  35. Tera August 9th, 2009 8:48 am

    Dear Mr. Horowitz,

Thank you for changing cliches and sterotypes. I like reading adventure books that actually have a basis in science and are at least a bit realistic. I love your writing and I love your story and characters. I love how you still keep comedy in the books, though they have fairly serious plots. My friend and I love your books so much that we argue about what color Alex’s hair is. (I say it is blonde but she thinks it’s dark-it’s okay-she’s crazy.)
Anyway, please continue to write because I love it.
    Sincerely, Tera
P.S. I love the Power of Five books so far.(I am at the beginning of the second one.)

  36. Deborah MacCormac August 9th, 2009 1:24 pm

Dear Anthony, I have just listened with great interest to your recent interview on the BBC. I wanted to say how interesting and insightful I found your perspective on a whole range of subjects, none the least of which is how you see yourself and your role in society. Brilliantly humble and refreshing candid. Perhaps someday you will write your autobiography. It would be absolutely fascinating to learn how such a delightful and successful personality managed to emerge from such, dare I say “psychologically difficult” beginnings. Sometimes it gives a whole new twist to a story when you know the ending – or at least, to where the characters have evolved to today. Congrats on all of your success.
    Deborah in Melbourne Florida.

  37. Nhu August 12th, 2009 12:17 pm

    HI Anthony-
I think your Alex Rider books are amazing, and really look forward to reading Crocodile Tears- your books intrigue me- they’re so realistic, yet can somehow still focus on the main ideas of teenagers growing up and all. :)
I really like your Power of Five series, so all i want to say is keep writing- or else I’ll have to resort to books my crazed friends recommend me- not always a good thing considering some of them are obsessed with boy bands and romance novels…
Anyways, good luck for your writing in future.
From one of your fans who lives in Australia
    Nhu.

    Mr. Horowitz,
I am wooping for joy as i read this… I am really happy that you have almost published CT, and I really like the AR series. Thanks for making reading so enjoyable, and, thanks for reading this, and if not…. oh well

  40. Megan August 17th, 2009 5:35 am

    Hi Mr. Horowitz
I love Alex Rider, and the gatekeepers and groosham grange and the switch and the devil and his boy! I first read read Ravens gate a couple years ago and I had gotten the first and second together and when I finished both of them I read them again, right after that! Then I noticed you wrote my brothers favorite books as well (good job getting him to pick up a book by the way, I never knew it was possible before that!)I had read the first and second before my brother could pick up point Blank! He got so mad at me when I wanted to borrow his books, I had to go to his room and dig through his bookshelf full of unopened books and he didn’t like me in his room let alone taking stuff, so he finally gave me his copies for my birthday! Anyway, me and several other people were terrified that you weren’t writing another AR book. I couldn’t even find a title last time I looked and I can’t wait to tell my friends that the next book is almost out!. I love all your books!!!!!
    Megan
P.s i hope you visit the U.S soon, preferably the chicago area

    Hi Mr Horowitz

I live on the opposite of the world (New Zealand) – but your books are legendary here too!

I’m currently in my second year of university, and i was looking through my book collection and came across the Alex Rider books. I re-read them all – fantastic!

I first read Stormbreaker when i was about 10 years old, and- much to the dimay of my family – became obsessed with wanting to be a spy when i grew up!

Really looking forward to reading the next AR to come out, it makes me feel ten years old again!

    Keep up the good work!

    A.M

I was wondering what on earth happened to Midsomer Murders cause it didnt really finish….any ideas?????? Also eagerly awaiting the last power of 5 because we all want to know what really happened to the characters following the last books cliffhanger. Hopefully you will start writing that soon!!!!!!

  44. Naomi August 26th, 2009 1:55 pm

    Hi mr horowitz
I was just wondering what you’re middle name is. You probably won’t even see this but if anybody else knows could you comment it, please? I have suspicions it starts with an S…
But anyway, mr horowitz I am a huge fan! I have all the currently released AR books, the GameBoy game (haha I know it’s SO old…), the movie, and anything else I could get my hands on that was Alex Rider! Thanks so much for the books specifically, since I am a HUGE bookworm! =)
I hate to say this but i’m glad you’re editors will take out the violence- Id rather not see Alex REALLY die in the 8th book! Could you please not end the series with him dying? That would be very sad :(
So, signing off from the East Coast-ish, USA,
    -Naomi

    Dear Mr.Horowitz,
I am a big fan of Foyle’s War. I am very excited to learn that the series didn’t end with the end of the war. That was the last series we got here in the U.S.. Are we up to date or was there a later year shown in Britan? There is a show in the U.S. on cable -called Mad Men. The title refers to advertising men of the 1960′s. I don’t know if you are familiar with it.It is popular in large measure due to it’s great period details. It reminds me of your show for that reason. The details are great.
I see you are very popular with a much younger crowd. You mentioned you will be touring for your book. Will you be at a Barnes and Noble in N.Y.C.? If so, could you tell me when. You will probably be mobbed by teenagers!
Good luck with your new book.
    Sincerely,Alice

    Hello Mr. Horowitz,

Your series has been great, I own all the books.
It’s action-packed, suspenseful, and has all the vital components of a good action novel.

I myself am a writer, an American, French-Fanatic (French is in my blood) wide-variety genre, fiction author… technically. =P (I’m planning on submitting a query letter for my story next month)

I’m 15, and from the good ole’ U.S.

  57. B-rad September 13th, 2009 5:17 am

    Hi anthony,

I reckon you don’t read these(if you do please tell us!!!), but anyways just wanted to say that you are one of the most brilliant writers in the world. JK Rowling, bow down to your superior, Anthony Horowitz!! I live in new zealand, and you know where it is (yay, you’re not an ignorant little british son of a- well ill stop there) and you should come here sometime, magnificent country!Somewhat. I like the power of 5 more than AR to be honest, but im still hooked on both like a snapper on a line! PO5 is at the moment, my fave series of books. So in conclusion, thanks for making reading the most enjoyable thing on earth, and maybe you can give us an excerpt from an upcoming PO5 book? Please?

B-rad, New Zealand, Southern hemisphere, the world, the universe, etc. Basically, laters from a kiwi.

  58. Jake September 14th, 2009 3:59 am

I am writing some stories of my own, hopefully they’ll be published as books one day. I was just wondering if you had any advice for me on how to stay on track with a single book. It seems that I’m always losing my story and I can’t stay on track.

    Plz help ~ Jake

  61. Danielle Knowles September 21st, 2009 1:30 am

  62. Sean September 23rd, 2009 1:53 am

Mr Horowitz, I was really happy to hear that you are writing another book in the Alex Rider series. But I really want to know when you will be releasing another book for the Power Of Five series because they’re really good, especially Evil Star. Hopefully soon anyway. Regards, Sean Tindale.

  63. Julie Fraser September 23rd, 2009 9:12 am

Well this is amazing that I am finding myself writing on this site. Mostly because someone of my age would probably find this very amusing and maybe a little immature. I can assure you that I am not, I have just turned 50 and discovered your series POWER OF FIVE. What an amazing adventure, full of fantastic imagery and the story line keeps the reader always wanting more. I am an Aussie living in Hong Kong so your last adventure was a very special read for me. I look forward to your next book and will pass it on to readers of all ages who enjoy reading and also enjoy escaping into the wonderful world of Anthony Horowitz. Good luck with your travels …. China is very interesting isn’t it …. great fuel for writing material.

  64. Laura September 25th, 2009 1:57 am

    Dear Mr. Horowitz,
My brother and I can’t wait for the next Alex Rider book to come out. We’re so excited. Ever since I started the series this summer, I couldn’t stop! It’s our favourite series…especially Ark Angel (my brother liked Snakehead). Anyway, i can’t wait till the time I could curl up on a sofa and read your book for a good 3 hours!

  66. Saskia Baylis September 28th, 2009 5:53 pm

    Wow- can’t wait till November!
I love all your books- especially the Power of Five! My older brother likes Alex Rider, but refused to read Power of Five. He’s just being stubborn- he’d really like them if he tried. I’ve just got my younger brother to read Stormbreaker, and now he’s searching the whole house for Point Blanc. Mr. Horowitz- you have a whole house full of fans here in Suffolk, England.
Thank you for all the good reading times you’ve given us,

    Saskia

  67. Dylan October 1st, 2009 7:47 pm

  68. Jordana October 4th, 2009 11:56 pm

I am pretty sure you get this a lot, but Alex Rider is my all-time favourite series. Ever. I also really love the Power of Five and Diamond Brothers books. So far my favourite AR book is Scorpia, but that’s subject to change. ;) I just recently finished Necropolis and now I can hardly wait for Crocodile Tears and the new Power of Five books to come out! I’m going to buy all the horror books soon. Keep up the EXCELLENT work and come out to Colorado soon! :D By the way, I read every single AR book to my parents, and they love your books too. AND I have read Alex Rider: Secret Weapon and the Snakehead Coda, and I listen to your podcast of Christmas at Gunpoint a lot. I appreciate all the “filler” short stories– they supplement the series so well!

    Thanks for writing for us!

    Jordana

  69. Tim October 11th, 2009 10:24 pm

    Hi,
I have read all your current Alex Rider books. I have to say that you really were able to entertain your readers through your books. I am 16 and still enjoy reading your books. Plus, I have a friend who’s eighteen who also likes to read you novels.
I have been experimenting with writing myself, and have been wondering some things about how you write. I’m not sure if you’ll reply or anything, but I thought I would try writing something.
First of all, I have been learning all these different ideas that authors use when writing, like symbolism syntax, rhetoric, ect. I was wondering if you used anything like that in your novels?
Also, I am wondering how you were first able to publish your writing?
Do you have to do a lot of research and planning ahead for your novels. If so, how much?
    -Tim

  70. roy or explosive eagle October 16th, 2009 2:15 am

hola anthony, I love all of your books your my school projected do i need to find as much as i can about u. It’ really hard, anyway. Keep writing books, they’re great

  73. Dharshaini November 6th, 2009 12:23 am

I love reading your books, Mr Horowitz, and you are my favourite author. I remember doubting the Alex Rider series at first – that was back in Year 7. I thought that they would be dull, and stubbornly refused to read them. Then, in Year 8, I randomly happened to pick out Stormbreaker. It was brilliant! I stayed up till midnight to finish that book, and went straight to the library the next day, to grab hold of the rest of the series. I am in Year 11 now (stuck with joyful GCSEs) and I remain an avid reader of your books. Alex Rider had led on to the Diamond brothers series, and that had led on to the Power of Five series. I love them all, and I envy your ability in being able to hook on readers with your action packed, witty, absolutely brilliant stories. I cannot wait till Crocodile Tears comes out – it’ll make a great birthday present. =]

  74. mary November 9th, 2009 1:30 am

hi mr horowitz, i am 17 and i love your Alex Rider books! Probably because I always wanted to be spy… now I can’t wait for Crocodile Tears to come out here in Australia, and I will buy a copy as soon as I can! Are you planning a “Point Blanc” movie? I would love to know.

  75. samrha November 20th, 2009 4:53 am

hey mr.horowitz i got crocodile tears and i have to say its AMAZING very cool and i like how u put so much action into it is there going to be a 9th book?

  76. Elisha November 27th, 2009 5:28 am

My long ramble-rant with far too many commas:

I guess I started reading your books when I was 11. I went on a reading rampage, read nearly everything my middle school library had. I’m nearly 17, a girl, and I’m frequently checking back on these books I have loved so dearly. I was so excited when I was 14, I was like, “Ahah! I am the age of the A.H. books! I shall read them all AGAIN!” Shortly after Scorpia came out, I found myself in Europe. Somehow my itinerary followed the places visited in the book. You bet I was walking around with my nose in the book having a ball chosing which buildings fit the description. :)

I think I have you to thank for my writing. I mean, before I had read your books I hated writing like no one I have ever met before. I was the most unimaginitive child in the class. Looking back, I was fairly advanced for my age in the way I strung sentences together but that doesn’t change me feeling towards the whole thing. Something about your style caught my attention.. It has it’s unique ring to it that brings suspense rich with description without drowning it with detail. It made me start noticing all that stuff.

Ah, the beginning of my devout nerdiness and affinity for words!

    Thanks

  77. Dimple December 20th, 2009 5:44 pm

    Dear Mr. Anthony,
I absolutely LOVE the Alex Rider series!! I remember when I first got Stormbreaker. I was quite excited to read it, and then i just had to continue with the rest of the series!! Your writing is so clear and precise…and what I absolutely adore is the fact that these things can actually happen!! Although your stories are well, just stories, there is not even a small portion that seems too ‘out of this world’.
Thank you for writing these books!! You are the BEST!!
    Your fan,
    Dimple
PS: Should I expect to see more books from this series??

  78. Dan Economou December 27th, 2009 11:35 pm

PS: your voice sounds a lot different than I thought it would sound like.

  79. ROBBY MERCIER January 4th, 2010 7:58 am

Dear MR.HOROWITZ,i just finish reading your newest alexider book CROCODILE TEARS. This book was very thrilling as it kept me up some nights until the final explosion has died out and the final page has reluctantly been turned(got that from you on the inside cover of the book) well i read all your alex rider books at least 3x’s each. All of them are great, and i cant wait for book 9 and many others because you are my favorite author. I also read the falcon’s malteser, public enemy number two, three of diamonds, and the ravens gate series you wrote.Im not much of a book worm loke my mom who reads nonstop, but im a football player for my highschool at east ridge in clermont but the first time i read stormbreaker in my 6th grade language arts class i became very appealed by your alex rider series. So MR.HOROWITZ i hope you continue to make more great alex rider books bcause i would be the first to get them. SINCERELY,ROBBY MERCIER #73/LEFT TACKLE,DEFENSIVE LINEMEN

  80. Colin January 27th, 2010 12:57 am

  81. dominique February 4th, 2010 5:52 am

    dear mr.horowitz
im dominique and i am your biggest alex rider fan. i have read your series about 12 times each year since second grade and im in fifth. i live in california . icant wait till your book yassen.

  82. jojo February 13th, 2010 3:44 pm

    hi mr H
i really like your books and i have read all! my brother has gotten croc tears for Xmas and he was so excited! i am also reading your diamond brothers series and they’re really funny! i think you should write more books because they’re funny and exciting. some people think your stories are stereotype (my sisters) but i think that each plot is very cool. in croc tears i especially liked the part about what happened to the silly journalist. i like crawley. i hope you can write more books!

i really like the diamond brothers stories because tim is such a clownshoe and nick has to go and clean the mess up after him. i think it’s a bit ironic in “the falcon’s malteser” how the fat man is really pencil thin, he took it over the edge!

i have tried writing stories and i have started one a bit like the switch just with spies and spoilt rich guys.

can you write another alex rider book? it would be awesome.

    jojo

  83. Enis March 4th, 2010 5:50 pm

  85. Omar Abdalla April 25th, 2010 4:58 pm

i have read all but one of the alex rider series. the way you write the books is extraordinary. i started to read them at age 7 and even bought a couple. i come from sudan in africa and i have tried to sread your books there with little accomplishments. your books deserve more attention. i myself have been writing a series myself that i hope you will someday here of. please help me in making you the next charles dickens. i love your books.
just a couple of suggestions if you may allow. it would be cool if yassen gregorovich could make a comeback although it may seem impossible, and i have always had doubts that alex’s parents had actualy died. is jack starbright realy who she is? or is she some sort of spy hereself? i think alex is portrayed a bit too emotionless. he needs love. maybe sabina pleasure? paul drevin is russian and i haven’t heard of a russian today that won’t avenge his father’s death. scorpia doesn’t sound like it will ever leave alex alone maybe he will have to relieve the world from its existence? it’s about time alex were to carry a gun a shoot someone dead. why stop a ten books? if you knew how many people loved your books i think you would right a million.
i wish i could meet you face to face but i dont think this will ever be possible. my suggestions are only what they are, suggestions. you own the books. you right them no one else. if you ever read this please reply. and again please spread your books. africa is agood book market, get them translated arabic french spanish everything. i haven’t heard a person say something bad about your books yet i hope not to.

    thank you for your time,
    Omar

  86. Ann May 3rd, 2010 6:37 pm

Anthony, I would be interested to know why Andrew Foyle was written out of the series? Did it have to do with Julian Ovevden’s availabilty or were you just wanting to take Sam in a different direction?
