It's a laughing seal!!

In the new Alex Rider book of Snakehead (the fancy ones with the shiny cover...) Anthony Horowitz has published an extra chapter at the end of the book.

For those who don't have the copy, you can download it on this website:

Do you think Ash should have done what he did??

It would have been hard for him, I know, but no matter how hard the decision would be, I don't think he should have done it. Like the chapter said, in doing what he did, he killed  his best friend and his wife, leaving their baby son as an orphan - of course that is not right.
But many people if they were in his position would do the same thing out of fear. While what he did was terrible, I still feel sorry for him.

Why do you feel sorry for him? It was his choice, wasn't it? Lucky alex was sick other wise British schools would be destroyed, the wealthy and famous would be robbed, pentagon would be destroyed, Russia and Europe gone, british school children die, A charity would steal millions and people would be illegally trafficked into australia ( happens I real life anyway). But if he had died some of those may not have happened

Well, yes, it was his choice. But you feel sorry for him because he was rejected by MI6 after he tried his best, and he was shown up by Yassen who was only 19.  Scorpia was the only chance he had at a similar life to what he had at MI6, and it was the only way he could get back at MI6, or so he thought, he didn't expect to be asked to kill John Rider, if he hadn't he would have been killed, Scorpia would have made sure of that.  And even if Ash didn't do it someone else would have, and Alex might have been there that time.

Although that doesn't make what Ash did right.

Yeah, I guess it was Alan Blunt's fault because he rejected Ash

@alexcub1: I totally agree with what you are saying, in fact it sums up my view quite nicely!

@luke: If you read alexcub1's post, you'll get what I meant about feeling sorry for Ash, while what he did was not right. Though I do agree that it was fortunate for Alex to have been sick, I do not see anything fortunate about the fact that his parents got brutally murdered, leaving him an orphan.

@bwahaha: I agree, though Blunt's rejection of Ash was not the sole contributing factor to what he did. Like the chapter says, there was also the jealousy of James, and the resentment he sometimes felt towards him. Although he may have had his reasons for doing what he did : i.e. getting killed by scorpia if he didn't, what he did was most certainly wrong and immoral.

if his parents had survivedhe may have been brought up as a normal boy or he would have been asked to join mi6 or his parents may die in similar cirdtamces And things pan out the same

my guess is that things would have ended up pretty much the same even if his parents hadn't died.  who knows?  maybe he would have wanted to be a spy if his parents hadn't died.  but I think no matter what happened he would have ended up a spy.

You can't really blame Ash for Alex's parents dying.

They were already going to die, Scorpia had the bomb planted. If you read later, the chick stated that they were already able to detonate it if Ash didn't. I just think it's abit sad that Ash had to 'do' it.

Good point Samus, I never thought of it that way...
