In an interview with The Times for Kids, Anthony Horowitz had this to say when asked if there would be any more movies. This interview is from just a few days ago...

The first movie was only a partial success. It wasn't quite how I wanted it. I'd like to see the rest of the books made into movies, but this time we would get it right. There are still people interested, so it might happen, you never know.

Who would I be... If I'd never met Alex Rider?

OMG! I really hope he DOES make more movies! GOOD movies this time!!! He could get a couple of fans in to advise him. And I'm thinking minimum age 10.

I wonder if he would do Stormbreaker over again? Or just pretend like it never happened and start from Point Blank...

The problem with movies is that if they made them EXACTLY as the books, the movie would have to be rated like 16 and up. At least where I'm from. And that would leave out most of his fans. And if he DOESN 'T do them exactly like the books, they will probably be terrible...

No, I don't think so. Did you see the Green Hornet? That was 12 and SO violent! Fighting, shooting people (you actually saw the blood and everthing) and explosions!!!

It's different in different places. I understand what DON is talking about. In the end of the Stormbreaker movie, Alex isn't given a gun on the helicopter with Mr Grin because there was a rule that said he couldn't.

I think also, when it comes to movies, some changes are good because it allows a comparison between the two.

It's not the shooting people that is the worst though. It's the themes. They would never show Sarov shoot himself in the head (suicide) but that scene would actually be better off not showing and you just hear a gunshot so you don't know who was shot like in the book. And it's the deaths like getting sucked into a plane engine, eaten alive by crocs, that kind of stuff that would be forbidden. It's too graphic, much more than shooting someone.

I understand yeah. There are some difficult themes that even adults can't take. (Referring back to the suicide) There are usually warnings in TV programes too abou this stuff.

I just hate it when fans complain that the movies are never as good as the books. That's because it's impossible. While it is nice to kinda see the characters come to life, it can never amount to reading it the first time. Thinking a movie will be better is just setting yourself up for disappointment!

No, but I don't think they would show things as scary and evil as that! Not even for adults!

Then it wouldn't be exactly like the books, and if it isn't, they aren't worth making.

Yeah, but you could, for example, see Myra Bennet get shot, and then fall into the alligators, but then sort of do that black screen thing a SPLIT SECOND before she fell in. Or you could JUST get her in and view the crocodiles closing in and then black the screen.

For some of the deaths you could do that. But that would also cause a problem of, if you didn't aactually see them die, everyone would have all these conspiracies like oh that character might still be alive, etc. Just like everyone did before Scorpia RIsing.

Although the BFC do have strict rules on the graphic violence, my argument for AH would be "If kids can read it in the book, they can watch it on the telly". Books aren't censored, and as long as it is made clear that there is violence, I think the films should be 12a. Going down to a PG (8 and over) would be too much, even if I was 9 when I first read the books. That and they're aimed at 14-16year old guys anyway.

But you can bet some director would take the Alex/Sabina line too far and have extensive make out scenes. Though I did kinda want a reference in a book to them... being alone (not actually written just the end of a chapter comment) - that would make it more realistic I think anyway, cos teenage guys aren't just about guns, and let's face it, neither are teenage girls - the wrong film maker could tip it too far.

I'd love to see all the books done, but Petifer is now getting on a bit to pull of being a 14year old, and also as you'd have to get a different person for each one and the fact the timeline is only a year, it just wouldn't gel.
