It does suck. For Alex. I personally think a much better character could have been picked rather than Jack, though. It was too obvious.

I thought it was Tom. Then it wasn't. Then I thought it was Smithers. And then it wasn't. So then I figured they'd do the same thing to Jack, make it seem like she died but really didn't. But she did! Before even starting the book, i thought Blunt. But him being fired was great too.

But the only good way Blunt could die is by sacrificing himself for someone (which I thought would happen) but instead it turned out he was more evil than ever thought. I was hoping the "new light" thing would mean he would turn really good. I much prefer Byrne from the CIA Tongue

That part was actually sadder than the death itself to me. He was really mourning properly for the first time.

Yeah. To me the actual death wasn't that sad. It was only stuff like when he flinched and was by the car and when he was in the airport without Jack... his 'illness'

This bit totally depressed me. I know that she wasn't the greatest character to die, but everyone to Alex has been killed. Excpet Sabina, but we don't know what'll happen in th future.

And his complete lack of wanting to live afterwards. He didn't even try to fight back and get revenge for quite a while.

Maybe it took him a while to actually come to terms with what happened.

Yeah, I think he was in shock. He actually BLACKED OUT when she died! Real life isn't like you immediately fight back. I guess it would be a lot sadder, and like all the energy had drained out of you. And also consider that Alex felt it was HIS FAULT!!! It was so sad because as Jack was 'escaping' she was thinking only about Alex. And all HE could do was watch as she went to her death trying to save him by getting help!
