About the whole Gentlemen part, I think that he did work for Scorpia. Everyone really, worked for Scorpia in someway... We didn't even find out that R5 was supplied to Sayle till Snakehead.

And Sayle was the only one. Unless it says in Book 9 that all of the others did too, we can pretty much say they didn't. And I doubt it will. Even Yassen has a lot of evidence to suggest he works alone and not with Scorpia. Even though he has on occasion.

True, but I think that Yassen did work for Scorpia. I mean, I doubt that Scorpia would just let him go off and do whatever he wanted...

But look in Eagle Strike. When he was working with Damian Cray  he was talking about all the money Cray would give him, almost as if he didn't need to cut a share with Scorpia. And Yassen was also thinking of quitting, remember? He obviously wasn't scared of what Scorpia would do. And when Alex mentioned Yassen was dead to Julia Rothman, she said: "Yes, I heard about Yassen. I was quite sorry." If he was one of theirs, being as amazing an assassin as he is, that would've been a big blow to Scorpia.

Er, well I doubt that Yassen could have quite. That is, unless he wanted to die. Okay, so maybe he didn't completely work for Scorpia. What exactly does this have to do with Crawley again?

It was just an example to show Crawley could be the Gentleman and not work for Scorpia at the same time. But we don't even know if he is the Gentleman anyway, we just know he'll appear. And his identity is most likely someone we know.

Didn't it say that Yassen was independent?  He's a contact killer.  Scorpia and whoever else just hired him a few times when they needed him.  That's one reason he could probably quit if he wanted to.  But at the same time since he did work for them on occasion they might have wanted him dead because he knew stuff.  The Gentleman is running this same sort of operation, he doesn't work for anyone specifically.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm thinking. The only evidence against that though is Yassen travelled and found Scorpia at like age 14. And they trained him, so youd think he would be theirs.

But people would probably come to Scorpia requesting an assassin.....

Anyway, methinks we are going a little bit off topic now. Back to Crawley.

Yes, back to Crawley..... random impossible theory. What if Crawley is Alex's dad?

I thought that once. What with the whole " I fought Scorpia but something happened and I had to stop" and the " I knew your Dad" things. But if he was, you'd think he'd be doing more to help Alex. But instead he's barely ever in the books.

Well, maybe he isn't supposed to be near Alex much. People might start to get suspicious.

Crawley is one of my favorite characters. I can't really see him as evil, but I do love the quote from Crocodile Tears
"'For that matter, I could eliminate you now myself,' Crawley continued. 'I actually know 37 different ways to kill you in a manner that would look completely natural. Some of them are quick. Some of them hurt.'"

I know! He has like 2 or 3 paragraphs of dialogue in the whole book but they're the best in the entire book. You can tell he knew his stuff when he used to be a field agent.
