I think mental torture is better than physical torture. If you get shot or stabbed, it'll not only torture you physically with pain, it'll give you a horrible fright of what happened. So why not simulated drowning? It'll serve as a good warning to Alex to watch out and NOT DROWN. smiley
haha yeah true,

By far the best torture is in book 4, Eagle Strike.  When Damian Cray uses Sabina to get what he wants.  Imagine what Alex was thinking when he saw that!

It depends on what kind of torture your talking about. Physical, I can't get enough of. But mental is different for me. I feel that the more confused and unstable the character gets, the more uneasy and confused I get when reading the book.

And then my mind wanders .. And I wonder ... if I ever get stuck on a desert island ... would I eat him?

I like some torture. Probably a little more than we are seeing now. So far we have seen physical. I want mental and physical torture.

A book like Alex Rider always has physical torture (even though I don't really like physical torture,  the Alex Rider series is as good as dead without it)... Somehow, I've never seen mental torture that much.

Maybe Scorpia Rising will have more mental torture than physical torture (hopefully)

Alex has not had much actual torture though. He's been through fights and has had to escape lethal situations, but not much else.
