New series of Foyle's War
«

Well, the extremely long wait is almost over, and all Foyle's War fans in the UK
can look forward to the return of this hugely popular series this Sunday, April 11th
at 8 pm on ITV1.
It will be good to welcome back DCS Foyle and his team in three episodes of this
superb series, which should never have been axed in the first place.
joanna.

My 80 year old father (who lived in the Hastings area as a boy during the War) persuaded me to watch Foyle's War while I was recovering from knee replacement surgery last year. It kept me sane. We both love this series and discuss it whenever we see each other. I have bought two complete sets of DVD's; one for him and one for me. THE big discussion we have is will there be one final series? The last series ended with Foyle boarding a ship to the US. In our opinion, we think Foyle is on his way to confront Howard Paige about the murder of his former friend. We think there is a good story line there........what about it Mr Horowitz? We are desperate for one final Foyle's war!

Just hope the rumours about anoher series of Foyle's War are true. DCS Foyle has been
much missed by all devotees of this excellent series. Please don't keep us waiting too
long, Mr. Horowitz.

I too would love to see new episodes of Foyle's War. It has to be one the best series i have ever seen. At this point I would be happy to see the reruns and enjoy them all over from the beginning. I am brand new to this website and there doesn't seen to be much activity or many recent posts or information about the series...am I missing something?

Hi Linda and welcome to the board
Yes, I would also love for there to be another series of Foyle's War - it's one of my favourite tv shows!
To answer your question, this thread and the Foy;e's war threads have been so to speak 'dead' for some time, as the activity on the board tends to focus around things that AH is currently working on - i.e. Alex Rider Books, Power of Five books, and of course the [ur=http://anthonyhorowitz.com/msgboard/index.php/board,23.0.htmll]general discussion threads[/url].
However we can still revive these FW threads if we post often

Hi Linda,
Nice to welcome you to this site. True it has been 'dead' for quite some time, but take it
from me, the many fans of this excellent series are very much alive and active. We're the ones
who write to ITV pleading for the return of our favourite detective. There is a site which
discusses (at length) all the work of Michael Kitchen, and it has a special section for
discussing every episode of Foyle's War. I'm not sure I'm allowed to reveal the name
on this particular forum, but it's easy enough to find through the internet. It's a great
way of keeping up with the latest news of the forthcoming series of this compelling programme.

Just finished watching all the episodes from all the series of this most enjoyable and superbly produced show and very much am looking forward to the continuation of the storyline into the cold war in the next series. Would love to see a lot more of Hilda Pierce working with Mr. Foyle. Would love to see the Foyle family evolve, hopefully with James Devereaux and Andrew Foyle connecting. Perhaps, most of all, would love to see Barbara Hicks reappear.

Yes, I have to agree that I can't wait for the new series either, as I posted before...
Hilda Pierce and Mr Foyle would be interesting, but I never really found myself big fan of her. I also literally just watched the episode 'They Fought in The Fields' and was re-introduced to Barbara
All in all, I have to say that I would absolutely love to have a new series of this wonderful series.

TiggsRulz - I'll tell you why I would welcome a continuing Barbara Hicks storyline: I think that she was the only woman character that Foyle clearly connected with in a heart to heart, soulful sense in the series. They even seemed to be able to comfort each other - both had suffered deeply felt loss in their lives and Mr. Foyle had kept his wounds well hidden until he met Barbara Hicks. Mr. Foyle emotionally revealed himself to her seemingly without holding back, a fundamental deviation from his rigid sense of privacy, something he had not done with any other character in the series, including his son.
I expect to see Hilda Pierce in the next series because she clearly holds Mr. Foyle in very high regard and is ideally situated to bring him into the intelligence community after the war.
By the way, I thought the Barbara Hicks scenes were Mr. Horowitz's finest writing of the series. I thought the dialogue was true to the characters, very unexpected, beautifully understated, and yet compelling, matched only by the riveting final scene between Mr. Foyle and James Devereaux. Its not often in life one gets to enjoy the quality of performance that has been produced by this creative partnership between Anthony Horowitz and Michael Kitchen. What a treat.
