Nope. To quote the legendary Captain Jack Sparrow. "No survivors? Then where did the tales come from, I wonder?"

It's elementary. For example if everybody had died in Pompeii then we'd never have known about it or understood what had happened. Luckily for us Pliny the Younger stayed home and later wrote it all down.

A man is found near a telephone box, dead in a pool of blood. His ute is parked near by and clearly visible in the back is some fishing equipment. After some investigate the police determine that There was no foul play. How did the man die?

The man caught a large fish and was so excited he went to a phone box to call his wife.  In trying to describe the size of the fish, he said, "It was THIS big!" and stretched his arms wide to indicate its length.  His arms went through the sides of the phone box, his wrists were sliced by broken glass, and he bled to death.
