I just started a new topic and am wondering how to get poeple to reply to it.

First off, you double-posted again it's okay, everyone does it as a newbie, but there's a 'Modify' button at the top right of your posts, and if you want to add something (or say something new, ask another question, or make another point) but no one else has posted after your last post, you can just click that and add it to your previous post. If you like you can put a big 'EDIT:' in front of it, so everyone knows it wasnt originally part of your post.

There's nothing you can do to get people to reply to a topic. You just have to hope they see it, really!

EDIT:: (see? like that ) I went and had a look at your topic, and although as I said in my reply, there's not much we can do, you could try PMing a moderator and asking if AH is planning another online Q&A session any time soon...

As for getting people to reply to it, you'll probably do better if it was named more appropriately - perhaps 'Why Can't We Talk To AH?' or something, so people know what it's about. 'talking' sounds a little random... But in any case, this is a forum not a chat room, so replies can take a while - people from all over the world and lots of different time zones come online at all sorts of times.

How can you post 15 posts when so many of the items on this forum are old?  Do they count towards the 15 posts?

Try posting in places like the general discussion or Alex rider topics at the moment, because they are quite recent and popular. Otherwise now and then look at the 'Unread posts since last visit' to see where other people have posted recently. Yes, your posts in old topics still count, but it is not really worthwhile posting in 'dead' topics because not many people will reply or look at your posts (I just happened to see yours).

Well hey, EvanPatrick, welcome to the board.

Like Tiggs said, it is easiest to post in the General Discussion area, since there are always active threads there. You will also find the Members Info thread, where you can officially introduce yourself to the board.

It probably is best to post in AH related topics, like Rocket said. But I didn't, and look, now I'm the DBP, so don't worry too much. Oh, and don't spam. No-one likes spammers. XD
