Yep! It's basically the same character types though. Will = Jace but with dark hair.

Anyone read the new one? It was pretty awesome!
OOoh, I'm halfway through it as we speak.
SPOILERS
I don't actually like it that much so far. It just seemed a bit TOO similar for my liking. I mean, I understand that we'd all love an extension to MI, but Will is just way too much like Jace. Its annoyingly unoriginal in that sense. Or maybe I'm just a diehard Jace fan. I just don't think she should use the witty-hot-boy-lead card TWICE in the exact same way!
All things considered, I'm actually hoping Tessa ends up with Jem so far. He seems pretty cool. Only I'm pretty positive there's no way it'll happen.

I'm not going to spoil it for you, but I think she redeems Will at the end (there seems to be more to him in a dark way than Jace) and well, on the other bit, you'll see xP

SPOILER
So I finished it. Its effing awesome. I swear, this woman has the uncanny ability to create the hottest male characters ever. Honest. Simon <3 Jace <3 Will <3 AND NOW JEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He is officially my newest fictional character crush. He's so epic. AND I'M SO GLAD SHE HAS HIM LIKING TESSA!! Its gonna be such an awesome love triangle xDD
And the plot was quite decent as well. I'm honestly looking forward to the next two books.

And is it just me or does Magnus Bane just get cooler and cooler? Though I don't mind much for Tessa as a character. She's too nice. Jessamine also annoys me.

Magnus Bane is outrageously awesome. Even if Chairman Meow isn't there yet.
I actually didn't mind Tessa. I prefer her to Clary. She was quite cool in the end, and I can always relate to someone who constantly relates to books.
Jessamine was annoying, I'll agree. Like a whinier version of Isabelle. Only worse.

^That's it! Isabelle was much cooler. Though I like Clary and the fact that she might actually be tougher than Jace xP. Tessa seems to need either Will or Jem.

I haaaaaaaveeee!!!!
I was just wondering why my posts in this topic were so stupid before I realized they were written two years ago. Time flies, eh?
Also I'm not sure whether I should wait for you to post your opinion or go ahead with mine, Dil...
at any rate
CLOCKWORK PRINCESS SPOILERS
I liked it. I liked the concept. I liked the ending.
I did not like the sex scene.
That's about it. I was really loving the book until the sex scene then I got really annoyed until the last chapter after which I was like, "wow if they hadn't had sex I would have really liked this book."

SPPPPOOOILLLEERRRRSS DDDDOOOO NOOOOTT REAAAAADD
I didn't mind the sex scene as such. It was meh.
Mostly, I was kind of peed that she got it both ways. I mean, Will can now never come back. Ever. He's my favourite out of all of them, and that's it. He grew old. He died.
Then Tessa bloody had to go off with Jem, didn't she? She bonked the both of them! And and and... I like Jem, but not with Tessa, because Tessa was always supposed to end up with Will. It also annoys me now knowing she would have found out about poor Jace, who is still technically her great great grandson, and did nothing to make him feel better about being a Herondale! In fact the only comment we get on that is from Jem, as Zachariah, who says he should have guess Jace was a Herondale.
/end rant
Magnus was great.
edit// Ahah, the word censor activated. Time for an edit.

mannn i was really bored of Will, though! I mean I mostly liked him in Clockwork Prince but overall Jem was just a much cooler character and a much better choice and it felt like he got a really obnoxious throwaway mention at the end just like
the entire final few chapters were written very
fanfiction-ly?
i think yeah i think if it had been written differently it could have worked out, that Tessa got them both (and i actually LIKE that she got them both because it's a nice take on what was a really difficult love triangle) but
the sex scene just really ruined it for me
it felt so out of character and again really fanfiction-like so it just sort of
there wasn't nearly enough grief or desperation in it to count as anything in jem's favor it was just really irritating
i actually drew a whole comic for it out of annoyance once i finished the book >_>

Ahhh. Y'see, because when I first started reading Cassandra Clare's books I knew her as a fan fiction writer, I read all of her stuff in that way. So I kind of expect it to be like that, but more to the point, extremely camp.
My biggest problem is that for me the characters I liked best were always Will or Jace, however in the newer series, Jace has been ruined (character wise), so I always held out hope on Will, if that makes sense?

No well I knew she was a fanfiction writer too but that doesn't necessarily mean like she'd be bad? It just felt like the last few chapters were fanfiction of her own story??? DOES THAT MAKE SENSE? i just really didn't like the last few chapters!
Eh, I would've liked Will if not for Jace, and Jace I still love despite the new series (which I kind of ignore tbh) but yeah... like I like Will but Jem is the star of the Infernal Devices for me, I think.

I just felt he was too nice. Kinda like Tessa. I like 'em mean - Izzy, Will, Jace, Magnus. But not bad. If that makes sense?
And for the most part, I feel like everything Clare writes sounds like her own fan fiction, especially the new series haha.
