I do rather like Hamlet. We're studying As You Like It in English, and it's okay... but Hamlet holds a special place in my heart. Shakespeare and his angsty young males :L

There's an accessible, non play version of Hamlet by John Marsden that's a good intro / easy way to read the story.

I just read a good book by Gemma Malley, called 'The Killables" I strongly recommend it - it's actually quite an interesting read

I'm currently reading The Catcher in the Rye. It's a funny book up to now, we can all relate to him.

So, in 78 hours and 40 minutes my French Exam will be over ('tis my last exam).
So, I have 5 days off school then, and I am going to go on a reading spree. What new books have I missed out on in the last 6 months?

It depends what you mean by new books. Do you mean books that have recently released or just books you haven't read?

Has anybody read the Dark-Hunters series by Sherrilyn Kenyon? I'm just wondering if they're good enough for the effort of reading them.

I ended up reading the latest Kane Chronicles and The Enchantress. A pleasurable 900 pages...
I have never heard of the above series. Just check out some reviews online...

I just finished the second volume of Sandman by Neil Gaiman. Anyone else here read it? It's pretty damn fabulous, and I don't usually read comics, so that's saying something.

So I'm currently reading Simon R Green's Nightside series. It's urban fantasy set in the heart of London where it's always 3 in the morning, and you can buy anything for the price of your soul or sometimes somebody else's, where cars aren't always cars and are probably hungry and ambulances run on distilled human suffering.
It's really quite brilliant. It's the story of John Taylor, a private eye with a "gift" for finding things.
I really truly recommend it for everybody. Further more there's the occasional reference to the Travelling Doctor that are just awesome.
Quote
In the Nightside, that sour secret hidden heart of London, it's always three o'clock in the morning and the dawn never comes. Streets full of sin and cellars full of suffering, magic in the air and mystery around every corner; hot neon, hotter music, and the hottest scenes anywhere. Good and bad and everything in between. Dreams come true in the Nightside, especially the bad ones. Everything's available for the right price. SO shop till you drop, dance till you bleed, and party like Judgement Day will never come.
I'm John Taylor, private eye. I have a gift for finding things and people. I won't promise you justice, or revenge, or your heart's desire. But I will find the truth for you, ever damned bit of it.
Welcome to the Nightside. Watch your back. Or someone will steal it.
The most succinct summary that I found in the books themselves.

Okay, that sounds awesome. I'll add it to my (rather long) list of things I need to read.
I might even bump it up to near the top, just for the Who references.

I'm sure they've been mentioned here already, but rather than search 48 pages for a quote I'll just second any recommendations for:
The Dresden Files
by Jim Butcher
Mistborn Trilogy
(+ 4th Standalone) by Brandon Sanderson
Horatio Hornblower
by C. S. Forester
And Then There Were None
by Agatha Christie
& for a Kids/YA book,
Warriors
by Erin Hunter

Ah, The Dresden Files. I've only read Storm Front, and it was pretty good. I really need to get a hold of the next few in the series, as I'm told they're books that you practically absorb through your face.
As for Hornblower, I haven't read the books, but the Mini-series was spectacular. I highly recommend it.

I would recommend anything by Terry Pratchett. I have become obsessed. The humour is gold and the story is gripping.

I've been reading Sandman by Neil Gaiman recently. It's technically a
comic
, not a book, but hey. It's entertaining, very well written, and all around an excellent read.
It was written in the late 80s/early 90s, and Gaiman has just announced that a prequel is in the works. I'm very much looking forward to it.
