Differences between Movie and Novel

In rereading STORMBREAKER and just having seen the movie again, I must say, that while others feel some of the changes were bad, I feel that some of them made the story better. Not all but some. For some reason I love the fight in the junkyard so that's just brilliant. I still and always will hate the fight between Nadia and Jack. It was pointless, stupid and silly. I also miss the chase through the field with the quads. They should have done that.
I do like that Yassen apppears in the movie when Alex finds the virus. I think that part of the movie is better. I noticed that in DELETED SCENE that makes it to the trailer in Japan and France, Alex knocks out a guard just like he did in the book in this part. I like that he throws the virus to escape and his whole escape there and later is much much better.
As for the ending...it makes sense that Alex figures out what happens but in fact, it's a bit rushed in both the book and the movie and I"m not sure which ones makes more sense but somehow the movie seems to flow easier than having Herod Sayle on the bus iwth Alex...and the climax on the roof of the building is much much more exciting. IF they had to include a Chinese bodyguard that looked like Oddjob from James Bond, then a longer fight scene might have worked better and then have Sabina kick him.
Sabina: I too feel she should NOT have been in this book at all. I don't think she added anything to it at all. I would have liked to have seen how she dealt with Alex as she did in the books of the future.
The horse-Jack car chase thing: not sure how I feel about this. I think it adds a bit to the chase and action but...it's really pointless too. I can't see why it cannot fit in but maybe it should have been done with another girl from Alex's school or even Tom or someone else maybe even Colin?
All in all, the movie was not as bad as everyone seems to think it was now. And back then, Alex Pettyfer WAS Alex Rider. In many ways to me, he always will be. This movie brought me to the books so I thank it for that.

Perhaps this should be in the movie review post?

Anthony put out a movie tie-in novel to "Stormbreaker". Hasn't anyone ever gotten it? I think he saw all of the emails and decided to put it out.

In the novel, Alex can speak Spanish.
In the movie, Alex can speak Japanese.
What the heck? How does that add to the story? And Alex being able to speak Spanish is important to Skeleton Key.

Sabina is in the film, not the book. In the book series she is introduced in the third book Skeleton Key. Sabina also doesn't go to school with Alex.
The character Mr. Crawley had to have a name change to Mr. Crawford, after the real MI6 didn't want the name used. Additionally, Herod Sayle's name is changed to Darrius, and his nationality changed from Lebanese to American. And Alex's fake name is changed from Felix Lester to Kevin Blake.
In the scene that takes place at the garbage dump (in the movie, at the beginning), Alex takes out multiple guards with a rope. In the book there is only one guard and Alex kicks him, knocking him out, then leaves. Also, in the movie, Alex escapes the car by ejecting the seat, whereas in the book he escapes through the smashed rear windscreen.
The scene when Jack gets attacked by Nadia Vole isn't in the book
In the film, Alex has a Nintendo DS as a handheld gadget, but in the book, it is a Game Boy Color
In the book, Alex uses the smoke bomb in the Nintendo DS to escape the plane controlled by Mr.Grin down to the science museum. In the movie, he uses it to escape the Dozmary Mine.
Gadgets including the mind control pen and the parachute backpack were not mentioned in the book
In the book, Mr Grin dies because the plane he was controlling crashed into a building site. In the movie, he doesn't die at all, however, rumors say that he was either arrested or killed by Yassen G. offscreen.
In the book, Sayle doesn't find out that Kevin Blake (or in the book, Felix Lester) was really Alex Rider until Alex is captured. In the movie, Nadia tells Sayle that Kevin is a spy, whose instructions to Nadia was to kill Alex in his room, which caused Alex to head to the Dozmary Mine.
In the book when Alex parachutes through the Glass Roof of the StormBreaker Launch, he already has a weapon, which he uses to shoot the Prime Minister in the Hand. In the film, he is handed it by the Soldiers he trained with Earlier to shoot the Button apart.
In the book Alex earns respect from Wolf by pushing him off the plane, but in the film he earns it by freeing them from a guarded locked house

I think that the way Alex found out about mi6 was really boring compared to in the book:
In the book he CLIMBS OUT OF THE WINDOW AND INTO THE OTHER FROM REALLY HIGH UP!!!!
In the movie he goes in a photo-me. Yawn.

Yeah that bit did suck... It was funny in the graphic novel though. I also wish they hadn't put Sabina in the movie, they didn't even do a good job of casting her.
