Scott and Jamie replaced would change the story, because scott wouldnt be as worried as Jamie what was going to happen to his brother and think what more to do to save him. Also when sapling would of died and Jamie would of been catapulted 10,000 years into the past Matt could of told him how to get out of there.

I'm not convinced Scott would be less 'worried' (I take it you mean distracted by worry) and more thinking it through - I think he'd be more actively trying to save him, physically, which would (in my opinion) probably not be incredibly effective... *ducks and hides from Scott fans*

I think Jamie was plenty scared for Scott but I just re-read Nightrise and it's kind of AHs writing style not to dwell very much (read: at ALL) on feelings, and stuff like worry. So a lot of the time Jamie's thinking about other things and concentrating on what's going on and then suddenly in a pause moment - while waiting for something, maybe - it'll drop in a sort of 'Oh by the way, he was freaking out about Scott this whole time too, inside.' kind of comment.

I think it would have been the same.  I don't know what would have happened in the pst though, would Fling be killed and Scott thrown back in time, or the same as in the book with Spaling and Jamie?

the only thing is the past matt let the twins deside who would be killed. sapling chose himself. they couldn't have known if in the future jamie or scott was being torured. they couldn't have known that at all.
