Romance and the Five (absolutley LITTERED with spoilers)

hahahahaha yeah the Matt-at-the-end-of-things in Nightrise was so... well you remember... all-knowing and powerful but tormented about his decisions but still strong enough to make those decisions anyway (such as the one to send Sapling to his death) - our Matt needs to get up to the standard

Ha ha!! Yay for you (po5fan).... though I dont want them to get together (sorry lol) Im just happy because someone else in the world agrees there's something there!!!! finally lol

Personally (restating this theory for possibly the tenth time...) I want Matt and Scarlett to get close, Scarlett to die, Scar to replace her, Scarlett's death to contribute to Matt's dark-and-deep-leader personality/be the catalyst that makes him go dark-and-deep, and Scar, lost and terrified in this new world, to take comfort in the one person she knows... namely Jamie

I actually love that theory!! I havn't been on the message boards in awhile but I would always be talking about the romance that is yet to come etc.
If that happened in the 5th book wow, all my dreams would be like complete. It would be so sad, so happy at the same time, but then do you think AH would make the book seem to be centred around love all of a sudden?

Nope, sadly (well, not-so-sadly because i think the books are just fine as they are)

SINCE i FINALLY read Necropolis *clears throat importantly* i can honestly say i have three theories concerning romance with Scarlett:

a) Scar and Matt end up on the same side of the gate, so they fall in love since Matt thought she was goodlooking, strong and powerful (good combo if ever there was one)

b) Scar survives everything just to go back to Aidan.

c) Scar and Pedro end up on the same side of the gate so he heals her bullet wound and they fall in love.

d) Aidan dies, spurring Scar into throes of anger and thus making Matt fall for her...

wait, i cant count...

And DUDE I'd totally forgotten about Aiden.... WOW cos if that whole they-go-through-the-door-to-somewhere-near-a-place-theyre-thinking-about theory is right she could so go through to where AIDEN is... and he could come back into the story!!
Oh, right, she wasnt really thinking much of anything when the door broke, was she.
Well, thats probably a good thing... it'd be a bit silly to bring MORE characters in just so they could SLEEP THROUGH THE WHOLE BOOK too...

and to po5girl - I dont think that subplot would make the book centred about love at all. These kinds of things are just... developed through glances and moments that happen in the middle of other scenes. It doesnt have to be an overwhleming epic Romance (with a capital R) lol just sort of... a teenage cute side story where two characters in an intense situation have feelings for each other and then act on those feelings. Just cute

im with arrowsong. in some books its ok for romance to be a tiny side plot while in others it needs to be the second most important plot. (think Sword of Truth)

I am thinking SoT... Im always thinking SoT these days, Im deprived!! It turns out the library just got rid of their old copies of the 4th and 5th ones and the new copies havent arrived yet so Im stuck without them for another couple of WEEKS... ARGH!! lol!!

i know preciseely how you feel, i got to about book 6 no trouble, small difficulties with the next, and then spent a year trying to find the last few.  The wait is definately worth it.

i personally like arrowsongs theory, and also think that no one will get it right because AH will read this and find out what people are expecting and change it, i know he didnt do anything people had predicted in Necropolis, he will probably do the same again.

But Im pretty sure he knows how the story's going to go. Fans predictions on the internet wouldnt change that. Couldn't change that. The story by this point is well and truly established.

however it's true that any romance from this point onwards would have to be fairly significant and so already set in metaphorical stone.

And why would it have to be significant? Scar comes through from the past, she and Jamie are in the same place, working to meet the others together, with other people (ie. the Nexus) too probably, and then, I dont know, they hold hands and be cute. Hahaha. Think Alex and Sabina - it doesnt have to be that big a deal.
