In Raven's Gate, I'm not sure if Mr/. Horowitz came out and said, because I don't remember, but when Mallory died, a strange encanrtation was playing on the radio.
Anyone else notice that it was really the Our Father? It's just backwards. Anyone think he(Mr. Horowitz) might of used this for? Why specifically the Our Father? Do people pray it when someone dies? So then its a foreshadowing of whats to immediately occur?

No. That was explained later on in the book but he said "the Lords prayer" not Our Father.

The Lords Prayer and the Our Father are the same thing. Some Spellcrafters, Wiccans, Witchs etc. Will say it backwards as a sign of renouncing their faith if they are previously Christian or Catholic.

wait... renouncing means like announcing that they're not? IUn this case Catjholic? And yes, when u reverse the "gibbeish" into the Lord's prayer, it is broken up in pieces a bit. Gotta think about it a bit more

At any rate, yes often exorcists and the like like to think that that is common for the occult, just taking christian rights and reversing them, but as a wiccan(a good one), I have to say that that is mostly untrue. Wiccan and witchcraft as a religion is much older than christianity, and so are their rituals. in fact it's christianity that used most of the original wiccan rites, and not the other way around. Those that reverse christian/catholic rites and rituals aren't witches, they're satanists...and that's actually a different thing. Just thought I'd point that out

It's the new age wiccans and such. And certainly not all of them. Though some will see it as disrespect to the Christans, Former Christians who convert see it as a way to ...clean their slate? To compleatly disconnect from God and start over fresh in their new religion. Not being Wiccan or anything close, I know only what I've read.

Well technically, a true wiccan respects all other people, their beliefs and their religion....so there would be no reason to renounce their catholic faith if they were catholic before...it's perfectly possible to combine the two. Wiccans respect life in all it's forms, so if they would feel like they'd have to reverse rituals to no longer become catholic, then they aren't true wiccans because they wouldn't respect their own roots and catholicism in particular.
The thing is, in wiccan religion there is still a god....for some even a god and a godess...it just not always carries the name god. For me; for example, it carries the name nature, but i do realise that in most aspects my nature and a catholic's god do the same things
The upside down cross and all the rituals described in Raven's Gate to me are satanism, not wiccan or witchcraft. For most people however there's little difference between the two, unfortunately. That's why wiccans are often viewed as evil, whereas in fact they're neutral...well should be anyways. The biggest problem though is that sometimes the new age wiccans themselves don't see the difference. They start doing god knows which ritual and call themselves wiccan.
Well in all honesty, I'm not really a wiccan...I'm more like a pagan... but usually i label myself as wiccan because most people don't know the difference anyways, which is sad....but then most of them make fun of it anyways so i can't be bothered to explain

I don't really have a proper religion but I am a bit of a Wiccan myself and can validate what Rainbowstar says.
In Wicca, you worship nature and the gods and goddesses of nature (ex: the moon, sun, earth, etc...)
Witches are a name given to the followers of this religion but they don't dress up in black robes or whatever. In fact, they look normal. They do believe in a type of "magic" in which they ask the gods to help them but broomsticks and wands are not essential - they are just tools to help focus your energy on what you want.
All real Wiccans follow the Wiccan Reede, which is a rule book and a bit like a bible. One of the most famous extracts is, when explained normally, if you do a good spell then the power will multiply itself by three but if it's a bad spell then it will rebound back on you, three times more powerful.
Anyway, saying the prayer backwards was one of the things people who lived in the Middle Ages accused the "witch" of doing. If it is used nowadays, then it's used in cults and not Wiccan or even Pagan religion.

Interesting. I had no idea about all of this stuff. I'm not very well-informed about witchcraft, I must admit.
