I was thinking possibly he'd use it to kill Matt for some reason in order to defeat the Old Ones, plus, another idea that popped into my head, maybe its to kill Matt like the trick that the original Gatekeepers did in order to defeat the Old Ones, ending with the original Matt coming to help defeat the Old Ones

It Could Be That In the 5th book. Scott will get in his head a tell him to kill him and then Scott will be replaced and will also be stronger

sacrifice has been common in witchcraft alot (so it says in movies and whatever) and they were doing witchcraft so........ kinda explains it's self  huh
