I always wondered whether he was real like the nazca lines but I suspected he might be based on people from that period in history because drawing and writing about things in the future sounds familar

why would he be, there were many famous monks who went to peru for the spanish in that time, this is not the first book with a spanish monk who went to peru with the spanish in it, think about it, the mad monk would not write all this stuff in a book about cars and other things (like the 5)

This is news to me i didnt even think the Nazca lines were real until i saw this and looked them up. Most of the series is based on real historical events or and real places, so its kinda hard to separate fact from fiction. But the mad monk is fictional i think

in the book it said that the diary also had sketches of cars and other modern things, i do not think that he is real and why should he be?

well he could have, think about it there were probably horse drawn carriages in those days, is it real hard to imagine one of those but just by itself with the horse. unless he actualy wrote something about the mecanics

i think the reason why he could easily be percieved as real is that Anthony Horowitz does his research so well that it sounds like rea history, that's probably wwhy i like him so much because his writing is realistic

As i said there were many mad spanish monks who whent to Peru back then BUT the one in Evil Star is not real although he is probably based on a real monk from back then
