Pedro you said you had a 1 GB usb. A CD has 700 MB thats 7/10 amount of space. better of with a DVD 4.7 GB or a BluRAY wich is alot more expensive and has 15 GB.

or you could just get an external HDD. you can get up to a terabyte (1000 GB) or memory from those for $200 from dicksmith....thats alot of pictures and stuff

I have an external harddrive of 500 GB.  Works like a charm.  I have it connected to my computer the whole time actually, because mu computer's harddrive is now only to hold the windows operator and stuff.  All my documents and pictures and music files are on the hdd.  I bought it for 40 euros or some
thing.

External hard disks and laptops and all of that is really getting quite cheap these days.  I bought a laptop couple of weeks ago, Acer Aspire 7720z.  Has 2GB of ram and 160 GB of hard disk space.  I paid 600 euro's for it, which might still seem a lot, but my friend bought her laptop about 2 years ago,  not even, and that has half of the space i had, she paid 1000 for it.

Still, the technology stuff around here isn't as cheap as it is in the US.  When i was over there last time i noticed that about half of the products are about 2/3s of the price it is here

i just got a 250gb laptop for $1800 AUS and i have not even filled 3gb of it up yet so i feel that i do not need an exteranl hard drive, in fact i do not know why people neet 1TB that is 250,000 songs!

RS, acer's are incredebly good value, one of the cheapest on the market and one of the best in my opinion. other computer brands such as toshiba and HP are over priced but so would argue that you pay for style.

You could argue that. Alienware is an of of HP's and they make gaming and media computers and laptops....and they are all customized so that also calls for an increase in price.

The thing i find most outrageous was the apple macbooks....Those are so expensive, and you're not really getting much more than you would with this Acer.  I was really thinking about taking an apple, because of the small chance of viruses and stuff, but after seeing the prices...screw that.  Now I'm even more convinced that apple products are definitely not for me.  Way too expensive for what you're getting in return

i was going to get an ipod and i saw that it would cost $250 AUS to get one so i though that is stupid and i looked at other options

 i found an mps player that was more reliable, better looking, $100 AUS cheaper and with more things than the nano and it made me realize that apples are silly.

my laptop is $100 AUS cheaper than the apple equivilant and it has 30 more GB, LOOKS WAY better, is thinner and lighter.

theres a new macbook coming out on the 14th its more bang for your buck. got an aliminuim frame and is supposed to be alot better than the first and second version

apples arent that bad, but they are way to easy to hack.

my old school had apple computers and i could get around almost all of the security, if id know then what i know now, i could have done anything i wanted on those computers.  and i still dont know half as much about computers as most of the kids at my new school. 

everyone complains about all the security on windows computers, at least you have to know what you are doing to hack a windows computer.  still linux is supposed to be better, but i dont know enough about it, to say confidently either way.

The advantage, but also the downside, of linux is that it's open source.  that means that you can really make it do what you want to do.  With windows or Apple it always comes with a ton of stuff you don't need/use, and with linux you can just leave that stuff out so that it takes less sapce on your hard disk.

But in order to get linux to work perfectly, you have to really be in to coding and all of that.  Windows and Apple are much more user friendly for people who don't know a lot about computers.

Because it's open source though, it is virtually impossible to write viruses to attack a linux computer, or to hack it using a standard protocol.  Because everyone's made their computer interface differently.  You could write a virus that attacks one computer effectively, but with all the others it would barely harm them

I go for google though, it is better than apple, microsoft and all other things.

what is really good about it is that it is internet based so you can have a small harddrive. the fact that it is internet based also means that you can edit it (documents) or check it (gmail) anywere, anytime, on any computer with internet.

Google also has blogger, You-tube and groups and sites. sites it like blogger but different, groups is when you create groups with other google members and you can chat and have you own site.

google also has picasa, which is for photos.

one of googles services is a search engine which 60% of internet uses have as their home page!

microsoft makes programs for computers made by company's like Dell, acer, HP, Toshiba ect.

What you're talking about is applications.  But google does not have an operator system, for that you have the choice between Microsoft Apple and Linux...and some other fairly unknown systems.  Microsoft windows is not abou having a notepad and outlook, yes indeed you can use google for that, but it's about making it possible for you to use those programs

Plus the reason why so many people have it standard as their home page is because it comes sandard as the homepage with the main internet browsers, like firefox, windows, ...  Not really by choice, just a setting that a lot of people can't be bothered to change
