Are you guys kidding? =/
I just finished Fang. I thought it was terrible. The writing was messed up, the plot was all over the place, and it felt like James Patterson was throwing in whatever ideas he could think of to keep the chapters rolling. Its like, one chapter 'Dylan' (Seriously, wth is up with him? He just gone it in there and suddenly it's ok?) jams a needle into his arm, the next chapter they're partying? Cheap literary tricks. The series is really, really, REALLY going down the drain. Its being written for like a fourth-grade level, and what's worse is its completely ruining the first three books, which were amazing, even though they still have unfinished endings.
There were only three things I liked:
- The mention of Eraser-Max and the Erasers in general. I was getting worried I'd imagined them.
- The ending. Its the only part that's decently written and seems like a decent plot addition. More than that, I actually
felt
something other than annoyance when I read it, which means something.
- The random notes from Fang's blog or whatever in the end. They were funny. (What DID happen to his blog, anyway? For three books we get pestered by it every couple of pages, and suddenly when Fang is most important, its gone?)
Other than that, I hated it. Its ruining the characters and I feel like James Patterson doesn't even know what he's doing anymore, and is listening to a bunch of random fans posting on his site or whatever. And there's nothing worse than reading a book when you feel as though the author is undependable. For me, it was a series of consecutive WTH moments.
