I guess but that does'nt make sense, just beause someone is crying doesn't mean they are a coward. Sometime it means they are more senstivie to something. It seemed a strnage thing to have the writer do: write that and not follow through

it may (and i think it is) be that the shock of almost dieing has put him to tears, it could happen to anyone, i might have cryed it i had come that close to death

I think it was fear. but more specificaly it was maybe fear that he had been picking on matt and now sees that he really does have power and is scared of what matt might do. also it could be shame that he was saved by someone he hated. I dont think there is a sure answer but once you look into it you see that there are many reasons why he might cry, so why shouldnt he?
