She was hiding in an attic, the entrance of which was concealed behind a bookcase, in a building in Amsterdam. (Can't remember the number...)

She has to hide with her family, the Van Daan family and a random doctor guy.

They went into hiding when Margot, Anne's sister, received her summoning to the labour camp. (I'm sure it was labour, not concentration...that she was summoned to I mean)

I vividly remember crying all the way through this...

It hit harder 'cause I read it again after visiting the house where she hid...the scariest bit was, everyone was silent...even these babies that were bawling int he queues were silent...  undecided

Read it in my school! I didn't like the book so much though.

I don't understand the whole "Anne and Peter" thing. She loves him but she just want a friend or something like that. Could anyone explain, please?
The diary ended tragically, at least half of them died, including Anne because someone had told the Nazis where they were hiding:'(

I wanted to cry, if she had stayed awake a few more weeks she would have been rescued. Her father must of been really lonely afterwards he was the only one who survived!  sad

I thought it was really interesting. Why did you think it was boring? Mind you, she was a very brave girl. She suffered loads, and we're lucky we don;t have to go through anything like that now.

I hate this book.

The things High-School English can do to you! I am told it is a fine book by those who didn't study it. Although I remember the main reason I didn't like it was because it was boring. But then you are not supposed to say that, because the girl died at the end...

Sometimes I do think that studying a book can ruin it a bit, because you haven't picked up that book by choice, and you are forced to read it I suppose.

It's the real diaries of a Jewish girl living in Nazi Germany. She fled to Amsterdam with her family and lived for 4 years or so in an alcove behind a bookcase.

I think that Dark-Huntress was just outlining their support for your post about how studying a book can make you hate it.

This post:

Although, I must say, that studying books does introduce you to books that you never would have read, some of which can be good. I don't think I would ever have read the Diary of Anne Frank unless I was forced too. I don't think I would have read 'the Book Thief' either. Now that is an amazing book...
