You know the watch gadget that Alex is given that sends out that destress signal. Does anybody think he should have tried to set it off when he was on the cargo ship after he had seen the bomb and everybody was looking for him?

Perhaps...but MI6 wouldn't have been able to arrive immediately, so there'd be no point really.  undecided
And the the battery had been taken, so it wouldn't have worked and Alex wouldn't have had time to think of the beacon in his trainers...

If suppose he did send the signal, and the watch worked and MI6 miraculously arrived in time, then the story would have ended somewhere there...which would be really disappointing   wink

yeah but wasn't that after AR escaped from the place without MI6 helping? wolf and his team came only when AR was able to tell MI6 up front. (i believe that's right. i read it a long time ago)
