My Imagination is my life. What is yours?

« on: November 24, 2007, 11:58:54 PM »

I have one question about the Air Force One Scene: You know how when Damian Cray took Alex to the control room in order to launch the missiles? Well, Cray said that it's fingerprint sensitive so he used latex gloves of the POTUS's fingerprint. Towards the end, after Cray was blown to oblivion, Alex ordered Sabina to press the second button (the Self-destruct button.)  My question is: I thought that it was fingerprint sensitive, so how did the button work?  undecided

I had the same question after I read "Eagle Strike"...but I was thinking that, once the button's been pressed and the nuclear devices activated, it could be that you don't need the President's fingerprint to make the bombs self-destruct. That could have been a safety device built in so if the President went crazy or someone DID manage to bypass the system (like Cray did), then the bombs could still be easily stopped

That's logical. I thought of that at first but I still wanted to verify.

well i don't think that it would be smart for the self-destruct button to be fingerprint sensitive. what if something bad is about to happen and there wasn't any one who can stop it!?  shocked

Jameshunter is right...maybe it was only the activation button that was fingerprint-sensative.

i know this is a bit off the topic but in my other book that im reading at the mo artemis fowl he is tryin to get someting out of a safe but he cannot use a latex glove of the persons finger to try and steal the thing he is stealing casue he says that the prints will be reversed so it would be like a different finger print all together

wont that be the case on air force one??

To answer your question centimeter, Cray probably got the fingerprint of the President on one glove, and then transfered the fingerprint(s) on to the other latex glove so that he fingerprint would be in the right position.

this trick is about as old as fingerprint proof button systems...i think most people realise that, at least when they're really planning it through

well maybe if the active botten was turned on then it should be finger print safe and the president was the only one with use of the self destruct botten so maybe if the active botten was pushed the if it was in a time fram you can turn it off without a fingerprint
