Indeed, I am so glad. Let's hope they can persuade Mr. Kitchen into doing it!

It was a total blunder from ITV to cancel it and I hope Mr. Simon Shaps (is it a coincidence that his initials are SS?) will ...ahem... burn in **** for his stupidity and blindness.

I hope that the new series comes soon. I am amazed how well the writer and director and actors have captured something very English, in Foyle I mean, the modesty and precision of speech as someone put it, the gentleness, all very Sussex to me, an East Sussex native now living sadly elsewhere on the globe.

I would like to suggest that Anthony Horowitz could include scenes from the world-famous Hastings Chess Congress, which kept going strong post-war, including perhaps scenes at the White Rock Pavilion, where I think it was held then. I used to go as a boy in the 1960s to the Christmas Congress, and I saw Botvinnik play there. Anthony (if I may) you could also include a shot or two of the famous club house, or perhaps there could be a murder there. It would be good for the club! (Not the murder, but the publicity, of course.)

I've been a FW fan from the beginning. I was born in  1955 so WW2 is very real to me. My parents met through the war and postwar.(Greece 1944). AH captures the atmosphere so perfectly he is a genius. Also he makes very few slip ups with modern speech intruding on 1940's speech. I can think of only one example that I really noticed; In 'Casualties of War' the guy who was the maths teacher and his wife working on top secret weapons research. He said to her at one point; 'don't patronise me'...!!! Def post-80s...

I can't wait for the new FW to begin next year. MK as an MI5 spymaster. Wonderful! I might  make a suggestion that his work might include, in addition to Cold War espionage, dealing with ex-Nazis and SS 'Special Projects' (e.g. operation paperclip). There is so much potential for story lines with MK in MI5 its tremendously exciting. I hope this new series is just testing the water for more series to come. MK and HW are an unbeatable combination for me. And AH is the genius who makes it all happen.  grin
