Ramen! It's Love for all ages!

« on: October 14, 2007, 06:11:15 PM »

I do realize that the previous topic was locked for reasons that it was not kept on topic. I do however feel that this can be a usefull and very interisting topic if only the members will keep the conversation on topic. I have been contemplating this idea with Shadow Dragon and we have come up with re-opening this topic. We will discuss the logical and non logical values of Power of Five and Alex Rider and then debate the differences like adults. Stating facts and a friendly conversation. I would also like to mention that me and Shadow Dragon will monitor this topic very closely and if there is the tiniest hint of straying off this topic we shall lock it ourselves. Thank you.

Personally i think that most likely everything has already been said about it that can be said.  but fine.  However, it is not up to you to decide whether a topic gets locked or not, or is reopened or not.  I will be monitoring this topic

I do apologize, I did not mean to take over your athorioty. It was not my intentions, I was merely traying to help. I am truely sorry. Alright, I was thinking if Alex Rider is based on logic as it mostly is, if the Power of Five not only is a magical setting but if it is not in it self based on logic. If you think about it, so far in the Power of Five series the magic isn't too much. The rules of time and space is obayed and it gives the story line a feel of undertanding.

I think that, yes, PO5 can be believable and it explains the concept of time well, like using the clock
i also think that alex rider is believable because people are capable of many different things

In some ways PO5 is believable as it explains it all well and leaves no bits that dont fit in with facts
i dont know why, but in my oppinion PO5 is more believable than A.R because you dont really get spies......where as just normal kids suddenyl having powers they dont know about....i dont know i guess it just seems more believeable to me

I am really a PO5 supporter and I agree with every thing meggy ahs said. I would also say that PO5 explores the mysteries of the modern day like the Nazca lines, whereas, Alex Rider uses the places to create atmosphere and story.

Someone who's from europe knows the places that come in Alex Rider, though.  I mean, I knew them anyways.  You're american right?  I mean, I thought you were anyways, and then it's normal that you haven't heard of all the places that was used in AR, because it's been very much centered around european places up until the last books

Please pardon my rudeness but we are trying to keep this thread strictly on topic. If possible, could you please discuss the locations through PM. I am extremely sorry if I have insulted you in any sort.

excuse me it was not discussing her location solely for the purpose of knowing where she lives, it was to explain why should wouldn't have heard about the places used in AR, OK?  As a moderator, I am very aware of how to keep a topic on topic, and as I said before, we'll decide, not you

Forgive me once again for my uttermost rudeness. Speaking of keepind the thread on the topic, I must admit that PO5 really uses the laws of Science in an excellent way. The combination of magis and science can be said as examplry, specially in the Raven Gate.

shocked rainbowstar do i sound american? iam actualy english (oh dear) i have heard of the majority of places but have not heard of some of the places used in ark-angel or scorpia for example. i had to ask my mum where some of the places were on the map so i could understand the story better Cheesy but in po5 i knew where al the places were and it was far easier to follow as i was able to visualize the place and your right shadow dragon the combination of magic and science goes by the laws and everything its very cleverly written

I must also admit that Alex Rider lost his excitement in Ark Angel whereas, Nightrise built up my excitement and I can't wait to read more. There is a pattern in the plot of PO5 however, AR is happening on random events.

I agree that Nightrise did build up excitement and I can't wait till the next book, but Scorpia and other books do make up for the slightly strange ending of Ark Angel. Plus, apparently Snakehead is amazing grin
