Quite agreeable, but still the plots of the books don't add up, they are not linked, they are just random. If AR is taking shape now, PO5 has already gotten at its interval and is near the end. Everything is planned and no random events are there.

That is what I love about PO5- all the books flow into one another. AR isn't bad, it continues the story from book to book, but its just that he goes on different missions in every book, whereas in PO5 there's just one main goal.

but that's basically the difference between a regular series of books based on the same character, and a quintology (?  dunno what the name is for a trilogy but with 5 books).  Alex rider isn't meant to be like one ongoing story, just like sherlock holmes or poirot wasn't meant to be, whereas, PO5 was, like LOTR or the Earthsea series.

Some people would prefer AR for that reason, because they can read the 4th book without having read the 2nd, or read them out of order and it might still make sense.  You can't do that with PO5.  Well Personally I did do it with PO5, but there were a lot of things I didn't get the first time round when I originally read the 4th book

I prefer PO5 but that may be because it's what got me hooked on AH in the first place.  Plus it leads me to things I never knew like stuff about the nazca lines, and i wouldnt be surprised if AH brought in other wonders of our age lie the collisseum or stonehenge.  Whereas with AR I knew everyting about it I needed to understand everything

yeah same basicly Cheesy
its not that i dont like AR its just it is (as shadow dragon put it) Random!! but maybe thats because of like... all the  being a reluctant spy sort of thing.

i like the fact that the second book of PO5 is a follow on from ravens gate and you have to of read ravens gate the first time round otherwise you read like....an AR book and if you had no clue about AH and hadnt even looked at who the author was you may not even realise it was a follow on until you read the book

It may sound wierd but having superpowers seems more convincing than being a spy to me.

I'd like to think that they're both equal...if you asked me to choose which one then based on the world today I'd say spy, but superpowers are way cooler!

But the way AH has presented the theories and places in the series, PO5 seems, by far, more convincing and real.

I know what you mean...I mean at the end of Ark Angel when Alex was sent into space without training for years (I thought that wasn't very realistic). But AR is also based on real places so most of them are quite realistic.

personally i'd say po5, but then that's because i think AR is probably the least of the things AH wrote in quality

ho do you mean that?

i think po5 is more convincing than AR because as chogirl put it, goin to space without that much training doesnt really strike me as real or normal but with the po5 and they dont know things and like they start developing powers...i dunno its just so much easier for me to believe

I have to say that, in the way AH puts it,  the powers are more beleivable.  I mean, in AR Alex just randomly gets thrusted into the whole thing, and with PO5, it just seems a whole lot more logical.

I think its because he's done a whole lot more explaining with the po5 and people would be more inclined to believe the whole powers thing than actualy a spy who doesnt even want to be a spy getting bossed about!!

I think it is also showing that Power of five has more planning into its plot, whereas, Alex Rider is simply based on certain ideas such as James Bond and Codey Banks etc.
