Why are there so many male protagonists in all cool books?

yes i did. i read all the books you dont and then i warn you not to read them,so i m the one that suffers.

here's why i dont think there are that many cool girl books:
-most of the 'cool' books are written by guys so they dont really know how to write for a girl.
-girls are always viewed as eaither weaker or more annoying when they try to do it.
-there are a few cool girl leader books,but most of them would be boring for guys,like 'the mediator'..its not that bad.

but max ride rocks!! and hopefully,scar will.

YEah i think the major problem might be preconvcied notions that girls can't be leaders planted in us by society and THE MAN.

i think they think girls cant be leaders cause theyre too 'emotional' . hah.some are extremely cold.

its true. and i noe some guys who are so emotional it acctually scares me. But in writing they're generally the comforting one. maternal instinct and all that. And the guys are suppossed to make the hard decisions.

taht is so streo-typing. and also, alot of guys dont like reading about girls.that really annoys me..i mean,girls are cool too!

they are indeed  but it's the whole gender specific thing...

very few books have men washing up, and if they do it's normally before hte daughter comes in and goes 'ill do it dad'...or the daughter gets instructed to do it...then the rest of the book is moaning about the unfairness of society!

I think most books strive on stereotyping...

well, a different book would sell just as well...the trouble is,girls have to be twice as cool as guys in books to be considered half as cool..its so annoying!

i have a poster stuck on my door which says ' Whatever women do, they must do twice as well as men, to be thought half as good.... luckily that is not hard.'

yeah. part of the reason that the female role in society is sterotyped because of what is written in literature about them. its a kind of vicious cycle. sterotype gets written down, stero type is accepted, gets written down again, sterotype is seen as true etc etc

i wish they would. i think MR started that abit...and Lyra,in his dark materials,was quite good in the golden compass..( if i EVER get that book,i will be happy) altho she lost it later on...

you never know,AH might do it with scar..
