You are clearly right on that bit, but you have to remember the fact that we aren't exactly sure what kind of powers are being controlled from the magnetic field. As I said, it was only a theory and has every possibility of getting wrong smiley

Maybe that's where the battle will be, but if the 5 can overcome the old ones then they can overcome the magnetic field, it would just be hard to

thier powers might get strong enough to overcome the field, but they would still be extremely weak while under its influence.
the old ones powers might be stopped by it im not sure, but i would think that more likely the old ones would be the opposite to the 5, as the 5 were born to take them on, it sort of makes sense, that would mean it would actually magnify the powers of the old ones, which could be just as much of a disadvantage, because they would be harder to control...
but thats just what i think,

but thats just what i think,

I've read the American version and i will give you all the facts that I've found in nightrise.

for starters Matt (from 10,000 years back, when Jamie time-traveled (chapter 19 "The River")) said that the final battle between the Old Ones and humanity will take place in the very same place in the future which, as Matt also said, is at raven's gate. that means there's no reason for the Old Ones to be at, or near, Silent Creek prison or the magnetic field. Now that doesn't mean that they won't be anywhere near there, because from the looks of it, AH tends to use information from previous books in this series. if he uses it though, he'll probably use it before the final battle.

2nd of all your theory makes some sense, dj26792, but i don't believe it's accurate (sorry if I'm offending you). According to what Scar and Matt said (again back in the past), the Old Ones thrive on misery. So the magnetic field won't do them any good except MAYBE protect them from the 5 using their power.

Now finally i did some reading to recover as much facts as i could about the "magnetic field," and according to what Colton Banes was thinking in chapter 11 aka "June 25th" (American version) it says in the book word for word, "The prison had been built in a dead zone, in the middle of a natural magnetic field making communication almost impossible. The field had other side effects too." That's the only information that i found as i was reading. It just means that you can't get cell phone signal or radio signal and stuff like that. i do admit that it mentioned other side effects also but that doesn't prove that it takes away the 5's powers. the only other information gathered was that of the fact that Jamie couldn't use his power for some reason. if anyone has found out anymore information from the book about the magnetic field and the loss of Jamie's power I'd like to hear it.

HUnted, im not offended, im not easily offended and enjoy debating things with people.

ok hunted, this might take a while but the book implies that the magnetic field stops the powers of the 5.
they mention the magnetic field, and mention that it is important, Jamie thinks there must be something about the prison that stops his power, "maybe a magnetic field"  also their is a room at the prison were their powers will work, that removes the possibility of drugs being used bacause drugs dont stop working just because you moved into a certain room, so it has to be something about the prison, or the place it was built, we know ther is a magnetic field that has certain side affects, so it is safe to assume that the magnetic field is responsible for the innability of the kids to use thier paranormal powers

also the book says the old ones feed on misery, as in they gain strength from it, not thats hjow they use thier powers, to use their powers they have to manipulate energy, and we are assuming that thier manipulation of energy would in some way be affected by the magnetic field, and speculating as to how.

i hope that answers your questions

dj26792, i understand your reasoning. i'm curious as to which room they're able to use their powers. i could not find it for the life of me. if you could tell me the chapter you found that in that would be great.

the Old Ones don't really have a super power to them like the 5 because the Old Ones are really created the way they are and they use that to their advantage.

the chapter is titled (in my edition) 'back to reno'
its the chapter were Daniel is talking to jamie and joe about his time in silent creek
he says, there was a 'special room' which they told him was the only place in silent creek were his powers would work, but it didnt make any diefference to him because Daniel couldnt do anything anyway.

Maybe Scott and Jamie's powers are like a phone signal and maybe Matt's  Scars and Pedro's powers still work
