What part of the book twisted you heart or stomach the most?
Mine was where he found Alex in the trunk of the car and Alex gave up for a while.

Yes, that was a very emotional moment. Though this moment is quite small and only mentioned, it did twist my heart a little lol. When Alex is home from the mission, it mentions that when Jack tried to get Alex to see a doctor, he snapped at her for the first time in his life. I found that to be quite upsetting - it shows how Jack and Alex's relationship is starting to get strained by the ordeals put on Alex by MI6. I think it is also very effective how it is left to the imagination of the reader exactly what Alex said to Jack when he snapped - I think it must have been something like "I don't need to see a doctor now leave me alone" very sad.

Or it could have been something to the effect of "get lost" lol, though I really can't imagine Alex saying something like that to Jack, so I think you're right.
A very heart-wrenching part was when Alex bravely refused Sarov's proposal of adoption, despite the fact that Sarov was trying to intimidate him into it, as well as offering him unimaginable wealth... he was too strong to fall for somebody like Sarov, and this especially showed when Alex threw the bomb's cartridge into the water.

It really got me towards the end when Sarov pulled the trigger and it seemed like Alex was dead. For a little while I really thought he was dead. It seems like AH likes to do that a lot.

Yes, I think it would be fun for an author to do that a lot to characters that they know have many fans lol

That is the part where the gun is amplifying Alex's heartbeat, and it gets faster and faster? I agree it had a great effect - and when Alex fell to his knees it was just heartbreaking.

I really enjoyed that part. As much as Alex is a superspy he is still human and that part was a really neat way to show that.

It's like your so confident in Alex that Anthony has to make you doubt that Alex is so strong and right all the time. Does that seem true?

it does. it really makes you remember that Alex is no superhero, he is just as human as everybody else. but he's also unusually talented and very special. that's why MI6 wouldn't want any teenager other than Alex but they just really disrespect the fact that he's a person too, not a tool to use as they like... lol i'm all defending Alex's honour lol... but it's a really big theme in the books eh?

Yeah, I think thats why it's so cool. He's real. He's imperfect. He makes mistakes. He gets hurt. But then he always wins in the end.

I think the most heart wreaching, heart stopping part was when sarov fired the gun, anthony doesn't say who Sarov aimed at.
