was anyone (else) really really really disappointed that we didnt get Jamie telling Matt and Richard and Scott and Pedro and the Nexus and EVERYONE about going back in time, and all the relevant angst that would have come with that?!?! I soooooo wanted to read that scene!!!! I really wanted Jamie's, like, inner conflict and uncertainty becuase even for people who's lives are as weird as the fives, time travel is pushing it... and him dealing with how hard it was and what it means for them now and everything... sigh.

such a great potential for angst there. but nooo.

I Know! I wanted that too... and to hear them all be explaining to each other their stories... 'specially S&J about Nightrise.
And i would have loved to see how Jamie explained it...

I'd gone over that scene a thousand times in my head. I was so disappointed when there was just this one mention where Matt's doing his 'looking around the people present thinking over everything they've done/been through so people who pick up the book without having read the first three will know what's happened thus far' bit, where he just remembers/thinks about how Jamie went back in time. I mean, WHAT?? They just... accept it? Dont even feel weird or unnerved by it? and he fought in a battle and beat the Old Ones and woke up and found himself in another time and and and... that whole experience is reduced to 'Hey! look! the name 'Sapling'! that was my name in the past!' and stuff. I mean, come on. Where's the angst? the dwelling? the dark-eyed silence and quiet 'You dont want to know.'s??? sigh.

What i mean is:

there have to be 5 of them to defeat the old ones.

if one of the 5 die they are replaced with their past/future counterpart

jamie no longer has a counterpart as sapling has died

so if jamie dies there will only be 4 no matter what

whearas if one of the others die they would probably be replaced

therfore it matters more if jamie dies than any of the others. (as they can all be replaced)

yeah that kinda links in with the other subject about who dies in the fifth book
because if jamie died in the fifth book even after they defeat the old ones
there wont be any sapling/jamie to defeat them again when they escape from there prison?

I just re-read Nightrise and when Matt's talking to Jamie, he says that each of them sort of have two lives, and for the Old Ones to kill them, they really have to kill them twice. Which made me go HA! THAT means Jamie IS the most important!!... But, thinking it through, that doesnt necessarily mean that. Because it could mean, Jamie/Saplings now died once, so he has one life left, and is as such the most important: but equally, it could mean Jamie has to die and then Sapling comes to replace him (or vice versa, as it were) and so to really kill him the Old Ones have to kill him twice. So it doesnt actually help much...

In short, Im going with my previous statement... because no one dwelled on it, angsted over it, or even, I dunno, mentioned it, it probably isnt so, and Sapling from some point when Sapling was alive would come through.

its my second post :L ii says in necropolis scott says i thought we are all supposed to be equal i think jaimie although not the first gatekeeper is the most experienced i also think he is the strongest of the five
