Yes *slaps forehead* how could I not think of that? I guess the only reason is because the Past Matt only mentioned the Present Five and not the Future Five and he did say that in order to kill one of the Five they would have to be killed twice. Sorry my mistake. Just a theory.

Before writing our views at the messageboard, we have to understand that the characters live in the world of Mr. Horowitz's imagination and only that would happen what he wants to. If we add our own views, and they match the ideas of Mr. Horowitz, he might change his plans. On the contrary, I must say that Matt seemed very confident when he met the twins at the end of Nightrise. This might mean that Matt already knows what Jamie has been told and perhaps beyond that. It is only my guess but we will find out what happens in the next installement; City of the Dead.

We are forgetting the Nexus. Matt has been in contact with Nexus since the Raven's Gate and they would have told him what he needed to know in order to lead the five. The idea of future five is quite unreal as it was explained that if anyone is hurt now, the same person from past will come back and they have only 2 lives. Read Nightrise for further reference.

Nexus knows all about the five and how they defeated the Old Ones. I think you are forgetting that Nexus knew about the gates, even the second one. This was built by Matt and Pedro after the battle with Old Ones. If the Nexus knew about the other gate, they must know about how things work with the five.
