I got the first book for Wind on Fire but I read the beginning and I couldnt really stand it.

Id recommend LionBoy by Zizou Corma (I might have spelt the name wrong) I got the second book (my mum bought me the second book by mistake) and I read it, its AWESOME. Incredible, bravo bravo!!

Im not sure whats the first book about...

Charlie can talk to cats. YOu know lions, kittys, tigers...he is on the run with six homesick lions. He has to get them home. But his parents are mysteriously captured by his enemies, one that he doesnt even know who it is.

Something like that. Its awesome series.

i read the first book ages ago. i really did not like it, i thought it was abit boring, and overly embroidered. the only thing i thought was priceless was when Charlie would remember his father's advice:

"his father had always said that you should never swear, in case something worse happened. then you would have no way to express your feelings. Charlie swore."

Revenge by Stephen Fry is truly wonderful! It is a (I can't remeber the word now....) retelling(?) of the Count of Monte Cristo only done in 1970-2000 England. Anyway, it is so well writen it is stunning. The plot is very engaging and it is a little under 250 pages so it is not like the +1500 page Dumas original. It really surprised me that Stephen Fry (if you don't know who he is then you must live under a rock...or in America) could write so well. The language and moving and beautiful and the characters are so real. There is one character, Ashley, who is so real it realistic that all of his thoughts and actions are things that people actually do! And the scene with Ned after his capture and about 10 years into the book is so wonderful! It's clever, I'll say that. But there are some moments later on that are a little confusing, but those are easy to overlook when you take everything else into account. It is really great, easily one of my favourites!
