It is true, if it was for teens it could be a little more , well, like you said, intense, more detailed. But at the same time, i dont want this series to change, you know? I love how i can read them all over and over and still not decide which is my favourite because they're all so equally good! If the rating changed, that could change as well.

i stand by what i said. AR is simply for anyone mature enough to read them.

Yeah I suppose it's the type of thing you have to try before you know if you'll like it or not, and that includes age Smiley

It's just a shame...a lot of kids, boys in particular- (and I suppose these are largely aimed at boys)- don't really get into book at, say 12 years old and I think they would like a book like AR. The series deffinately should be advertised more, to attract this kinda audience :/

Then again, there's more for us to fangirl over :3

well i have a friend who is 13 and the only books he reads is Alex rider - he loves them...but he reads slowly and has not time for other books.

I was not a bookworm until i read AR - stormbreaker was my first novel and it got me into reading...

AR should not be changed - it is perfect as a book can be at the moment and if any changes are made to it it could most likely be for the worse!

Same here, AH's books are so easy to read and so exciting, it's something with the fonts or something, i can't read books with small fonts...  undecided

It really depends. Because it's a topic that can still be debated, even though the question was answered for the thread maker =] There may be others that aren't convinced haha.

for language and violence you could compare them to a James bond movie but without the sex. I first read these books when I was 9 and I've loved them ever since. they won't give you nightmares and they're not scary or anything. there's worse stuff in harry potter. I*f you're still concerned, AH has written similar books for a slightly younger audience. check out Diamond Brothers, Groosham Grange, Granny, The Switch, The Devil and his Boy, etc.

I think that it depends on child. Because some children are more gendle than others.

As you have said, AR books have violence.

I read my first AR book when I was 13.

Well, I read Point Blanc back in 2003 (yes before Stormbreaker I'm so sorry!) anyway that feels like a century ago.

Seven years later, I'm fifteen years old and I still keep up to date with them. AH is my favourite author atm too. I do believe that age is irrelevant for his books, for instance, I think everyone would agree that the Power of Five series is a couple of years senior of AR.

Then again, if anyone's read that CHERUB series, (I know I shouldn't be talking about it in this topic, so don't reply...) those books were originally targetted at 12 year olds... Well look how grand that series turned out to be! (age wise) I stopped reading them 3 years ago it went so dumb...
