Well no one actually knows if Alex won't be in the whole book or just part of it. You can read about it towards the last couple of posts in the topic for the 8th book.

Alex's past meaning like his parents past, and more about what happened to them. Even if alex like changed his name for a mission which he has done several times before, the book has always reffered to him as alex. It won't be much fun reading the 8th book if alex is not in it though.

I certainly hope he continues with more novels, although if he does more than say 8 or 9 the series will have to adapt that Alex become 15, etc.
