AR said in the behind the scenes book, that he changed Herod to Darrius because he didn't think Mickey Rourke looked like a Herod. The MI6 asked AH to change the name Crawley to Crawford. That would mean that there's someone called crawley in the mI6.
He also changed the name of Jeff Striker because it's the name of an American well-known porn star. I've read this in an exerpt of this book which you can read on amazon:

From memory, he was somone important during the cold war (that's when communism happened and the soviet was in power). And what they did is that they kept most of the money to themselves and gave a little to the area which they controlled in. Maybe, just maybe, he kept some of the money and deposited it in the bank and so he would be getting more money via interest and volia, hes rich.
