Alan Blunt: Actually, we have to prosecute her.
(Then they came up from underground)
Alan Blunt: Make an example.
Alex: Who are you! What kinds of people are you!
Alan Blunt: Ones that normally get their way.

So, what does  "make an example" mean here? That means they wanted to prosecute Jack Starbright to warn other people that the consequences are severe if somebody work overseas without a visa? Or Alan Blunt wanted to warn Alex that send Jack into prison was just a beginning? Alex would have more trouble if he refused to work for Alan Blunt? What do you guys think?

Another question:
D. S. : Mr. Gregorovich!
Yassen: I want to make sure my people are working according to the plan.
D. S.: Your people? This is my plan, my operations, why do you think I need your people?
A guard made a mistake. The container fell off the cart.
Yassen (to the guard): You stupid idiot!
Then Yassen checked the container: It's okay.
D.S. wiped sweats off his forehead.
Yassen: The container is not compromised.
Guard: Sorry, I won't do that again.
Yassen: No, you won't. (Then shot him)

I was just wondering, why D.S. and Yassen quarrelled with each other with such a little thing? That is unreasonable. What do you think?

Firstly, Alun Blunt was saying that if Alex didn't join M16 ofr the Cornwall mission Jack would be sent back. It was a way of manipulating Alex into doing it and showed, that M16 get what they want.

The container and the whole paln contained billions of dollars and ambitions for both the men so they had a lot to quarrel about

I agree with Superman and wolfbane.
To make an example of usually means an attempt to deter others from doing the same thing so in this case it would stop people from staying longer than their visas allow.

About the second part, there is a lot at stake during that scene. People in situations like that tend to be more irratable.

I have to disagree with you there FF, Yassen has millions of dollars at stake in the project so he's making sure that everything happens according to plan. If he's in charge other people can't stuff up

Also, those boxes were the ones with the smallpox in them. They couldn't break because when Alex threatened to throw it in the factory everyone freaked out about it.
