If you had a book about another kid spy i would destroy the point of Alex being the only child spy in the world.

Alex didnt die but I thought he did. But if Alex did die it would be the end of the series and the world(Alex Rider world noy ours)!!!

In Scorpia it was mentioned that an American teenager was trained by the police for drug combat, but he died. If Horowitz was desperate, he could write about that, but yes, it would be kind of old after Alex Rider. It would be interesting to see if he could pull it off, though.

The great thing is even if alex dies (which he wont... i hope) there are so many other people to write abput.
mr blunt could acturly b a really interesting person, i bet thrs a hidden action packed story thr and then theres all those extra storys about alexs past, more stories about mum and dad. then yassen, i want to no more about him, and smithers even, hw did he gt so interested in exploding gizmos? and ms johns (or hw eva its spely) her family and hw she gt into MI6.

theres so much that could be added after alex. BUT there could NEVER b another spy. one of his friends becoming a spy sounds desperate... do MI6 just pick them off the street? personally AH opens so many cliff hangers that he could write a whole new series about all the other people and events in alexs life  grin

Several times, no. But you get the odd main character who [ii]has[/i] to die, to change things. T'be honest, were a book about Yassen published, we all know how it'd end up.

smileo - Ah, yes, all the side characters have so much about them! I'd love a book about Ian (we know very about him. He dies before the story starts, and we only know he's trained Alex.) and especially Yassen, who has a such a past.

Obviously, if Alex did die - things would change, big time. For one, Invisible Sword would have succeeded, Nikolei Drevin would've gotten away with it, Ash would continue being a meanie ( ^^ )... It's almost imperative that Alex stays alive. ("Yer hear that, Alex?!")

or maybe there could be some big twist in the book, where alex has a brother, who has been trained for someother organisation, good or bad, and alex gets murdered and the brother takles revenge? but then again that would be too hollywood

Agreed, it /does/ have that "OHNOWAII!" taste to it. I always thought if there was going to be a rival kid to kill Alex, it would be Mrs. Jones' children...

*spoiler* (maybe, well it doesnt really give anything away, and you wouldnt understand unless you know who it is, but if it is a spoiler then the mods can mod it)

i think that would work if alex did end up killing mrs jones, then the kids would get revenge. maybe mr Yu has children who could take revenge on our teenage hero

Well, getting married and having children probably sounds like the perfect english idea to him. -__-

He couldn't kill Mrs. Jones again!

Again ....?

I'm sure someone had to have kids. Now i'm not sure about the ''rival kid'' idea. Alex seems awesome all on his own ... a rival kid cool enough to rival him could end up taking his fans away or just being awful like Sabina.

There's an author (and for the life of me I can't remember who) who said you should always kill off the main character, so people can't continue the story long  after you're dead...

Plus, it DOES show the reader that there will be no more books about this character.. Unless it pulls an Alex Rider, which if he is the main character in the book, is most likely that he will do so.
