I think that to be able to understand the usefulness of the last book properly, you need to read them all again afterwards knowing the extra bits of information. I can't be bothered to though, at the moment.

I have to jump in here for a moment. I agree the books get repetitive and I skipped a few in the middle and I haven't read The End, yet.
To give Daniel credit, he wrote the movie script 8 different times. They changed the director on him twice, which you have to understand you write the script for that particular director. When they put a third director in the seat Daniel told them he's not writing the script, he had spent way to much time already dealing with it.
So you have two guys come in and mash the first three books together, and made it an Unfortunate movie. I did enjoy the look of the film and the music. Did you know the director of Eragon was the special effects advisor for the Unfortunate Events?
When I saw Daniel shortly after the movie came out I asked him about it, and that's when he told me all about the different drafts and director changes. He didn't like the movie from what I gathered. But when asked now he will respond by saying he looks at it seprately from his books, and it's merely one's adaptation of his materials. I actually prefer listening to his audio commentary on the dvd than watch the film.

I live near San Francisco, it's one destination authors always stop by during their tour. Daniel Handler (Lemony Snicket) lives in San Francisco, and does several events in the area. Usually not as Snicket, I enjoy his adult novels more than his Unfortunate Events. As for Paolini I met him during his Eldest tour, and Anthony I met last year when he came through the area with Alex Pettyfer, during their promotion of Stormbreaker.

The End was a horrible end to the series is all I will say. Don't recommend it
I got bored of the books after number 8
and no one seems to have liked the book. Wat was the end

I love these books beyond words =O They're so brilliant. I got into them when I was 9 and continued following them until now (I'm 14).
Sure, The End was a bit disappointing, but I think they are still a great series.

I loved the first 9 books then I thought they were terrible. I didn't understand how the end of The End could actually end a series and I was bored reading it.(I only found out what happened in the end because I skipped half of it)

I'm not THAT obsessed.... okay maybe i am. Just a tad too much. Anthoy Horowitz, Jennifer Lynn Barnes, and Ally Carter are the best teen spy authors. And Meg Cabot rocks too. Rick Riordan too. Love Ya
