WHY can't Alex kill?

Well that's implying something, and you're making an assumption as to whether or not he would care. Alan Blunt has never directly stated that he would not care if Alex died. Never. End of discussion.

And as for his means to get Alex to work for them, yes he's blackmailed, but if he hadn't, millions of children in the UK would have died, he never would have learned the truth about his father and uncle, Hugo Grief would have virtually controlled all major global corporations, and the world would be in mass chaos. He did it for the greater good, and if he had to do it again, he would have made the same decisions. Not to mention if Alex had known what would happen if he went on the mission, he would go as well, because he also knew it was for the greater good.

Now, let's please get back on topic with this discussion: WHY can't Alex kill?, instead of determining whether or not Alan Blunt cares. If I recall, there is a topic on Alan Blunt where you can talk about this.

First of all, M16 won't give him a gun. Second of all, Alex can't bring himself to do it. It's hard for him to kill someone on purpose.

I think the only times he would have had it in him to kill somebody were when he was about to be tourchered to death and when he found out that ASH really killed his parents on that plane

I think alex cant kill because he thinks it would make him just as bad as the people he kills.

his LUCK - he got the luck a spy needs - and sometimes, we all rely on  that.

And he's NOT going to die - because AH said Alex WILL reach 15 - you just never know when......it's interesting and terrifying at the same time, how much Alex has gone through, found out, lost, and gained in a year (in fact, less than a year, because there's more Alex books to come.....)

i think alex can't kill cause he has seen too many deaths. it may not be such a bad thing for us but he has seen many people die in front of him so yea

i think Alex can not kill because he feals that killing is not the only answer.   Or that he is a weakling that is incapable.   OR because his parents were killed.  I think is kill or be killed

I love it about Alex that he has that standard, that he won't go as low as the people he fights, and become what he's fighting against - and at the same time it makes it so much cooler when you get moments like in Snakehead (um, *spoilers*, in case anyone hasnt read it yet...) when he gets the gun and really wants to shoot Yu. that hit me really hard, that he reached that level, crossed that line, tried to kill him.

Okay, he missed, but still. The thought was there.

This is also a big reason why I'm SO excited about AR9 - YASSEN! Because Yassen's life story has got to start with what happened to him in Russia and what took him to scorpia, right? So he'll be a teenager (I'd assume the same age as Alex) - but one without that line he won't cross. An Alex who kills - and is good at it.

  Is it bad I think thats a good thing? lol.

I think Alex can't bring himself to pull the trigger, because he's seen it too many times and knows too well it's irreversible. He probably can't let himself get carrid away and shoot in cold blood. That's probably why Anthony Horowitz wrote his that way, so we would have more respect for him.
