well I'm sure that John Rider didn't go talking about his family when he was in a mission.

Hello? i know i'm new here but even still aren't we supposed to stay on the main subject?
i think Yassen didn't know that Ian was John Rider's brother and even if he did he would have known that Ian worked for M16 and thought that he was hunting John

Doesn't Sayle say that the security guard's name was Rider? I always thought that Yassen didn't let emotion get in the way of the job when it came to Ian. Or that he just hated him. Maybe Ian was one of the agents involved in the Malta attack?

I don't think that Yassen cared as long as he got paid. It probably didn't matter to him that he was John's brother.

I haven't any of you
REALLY
paid attention. Yassen is an assassin and assassin's do as they're told. However, Yassen said: "I do not kill children." Here's another scene from the end of Stormbreaker:
"You killed my uncle!" Alex raged.
Yassen shrugged. "I kill a lot of people."
He basically doesn't care about adults. 'They've lived their lives' is probably was Yassen is thinking.

Yeah, it's so confusing...and sad
I wish Ian was still alive...
But I still don't understand why he didn't kill Alex. But come to think of it, Sayle would have told Yassen why Ian had to be killed and that would include giving away his real name. But then he might as well have killed Alex as well...
Or maybe AH doesn't know the answer of all this either. Maybe he just deperately needed Ian to be dead, because if Ian was alive then MI6 would never have recruited Alex and their would be no such thing as the AR series...

(maybe spoiler)
Yassen is an assassin. He gets paid to kill. If he is in the middle of a job it doesn't matter who it is he will kill them except children.

I think Yassen killed who he was told to kill.
He was told to kill Ian. He was told to kill Sayle.
He was not told to kill Alex.

Ian Rider was an adult who makes his own choices, who knew what he was getting into, what the risks were, what sort of people he was working for.
A kid in an adult world is always abuse, even if the kid is surviving, even if he likes it, it's abuse. Whether it's sex, violence or danger- fourteen is SO YOUNG. (Doesn't seem it at the time, but it is.)
Yassen doesn't shoot Alex because a)he's like his father and b)he's a child.
Ian Rider was an adult and he could have got out whenever he liked. That he didn't made him fair game.

we dont know if he knew or not but as a contract killer you kill the person your told to no questions asked. Im sure he kew that they were related but its his job ti kill people and if you refuse to kill someone they get killed anyway by someone else and you get killed to so if i were yassen i would have killed him to
