I love them all too much to decide.
Either: Point blanc, Skeleton Key, eagle strike, scorpia, ark angel, groosam grange or nightrise. Oh, and stormbreaker, and raven's gate.

I think there are only three other AH novels I've read.

I don't think anything AH has written can quite top The Devil's Doorbell. The Silver Citadel comes the closest. Next would be MIsha and then Freerick K. Bower. Then the other two Power of Five Books.  Then the Devil and His Boy. I don't care that much for Groosam Grange or the Diamond Brothers compared to the rest of his other early works. The humor in these books doesn't much help the story in my opinion.
   I thought Alex Rider was great at first, but I've since tired of them. The plots have gotten too repetive, and AH keeps coming to the same cliches--like if a guy's filthy rich, he's always evil. Political Corrctness seems to have crept into his later works too. The only bad guy was "not so bad" happned to be a Soviet. Nothing wrong with that, except that any Western Capitilist is always pure evil.  I remeber in one AR story there was waht appeared to be an evil society of exteme Leftist's called Force Three--but they turned out to be flunkies for a rich guy who was trying to discredit environmentalism. In other words, the same old thing.

I actually had to stop reading NIghtrise--it somehow couldn't hold a candle to The Silver Citadel. AH just is no ,longer the author I remember and used to love. I don't think it's just me, either. I recently read Misha, and absolutely loved it.

I agree with the political correctness thing.  A certain edge has gone off his writing.  But I think it's not necessarily AH's fault, but the editor's and publisher's.  If they would tell you you can't publish a book because of some things that are in it, and you earn your money with publishing books, wouldn't you change some of it?

The editors do change things like that, but often they have to to stop people complaining it's not PC. What's the Devil's Doorbell like? I was thinking about reading it.

Oh I forgot, I also read Horowitz Horror and that was good, but probably not one of my favourites.

Indeed, Horowitz could have been pressured by editors and publsihers, especially since his sotries are now far more widely  read. I remeber a review once implied that The Silver Citiadel was sexist, as all of the Five were boys. This may be the reason Will from Day of the Dragon has been  replaced by a girl in the upcoming sequel.

As for the Devil's Doorbell, the plot is basically the same with some embellishments like the Leaf Project, and a few loose ends tied up. The bero, Martin Hopkins, is more of an Oliver Twist-ish type orphan cut from dickens cloth than is his replacement, Matt Freeman. In my opinion, this makes the earlier version more chilling when the kid is ill-treated by the bad guys, and more satisfying when his incredible powers burst forth at the end.

i actually bought raven's gate, but i havent gotten around to reading it. how are the books different than the AR books?
