I met AH today, and just in the short time that i was near enough to hear what people said, and during the interview, Mr. Horowitz got asked 4 times whether he didn't think Harry Potter was base on this.  And he said "Well it might very well be, there's a lot of similarities, but I haven't dared to ask JK Rowling whether she had read my books before.  Of course last time i met her, i had her on one side, and the queen on the other, and my jaw on the ground, not knowing which royalty I had to address first"

His modesty really makes him seem so much more likeable.

I wish he did continue the series. I still think of it as my favourite.

Well with the rewrite as it is, he can't really continue it, not the same way he started anymore.  I mean, yes, David Eliot can be a witch on his own, but you won't get the werewolf french teacher, vampire vice principal, mummy history teacher,... and those were the things that made it so much fun

True that. I keep forgetting Sad

Well, I guess I can make do with the Power of Five series. ^_^

I much prefer that over the Alex Rider series, though I'm unsure as to why.

i'm guessing it's the genre, because asides from that there aren't that many differences in writing/humor/...

but, that's not what this topic is about hehe

OK but i think we can all agree that the first chapters were unrealistic.

Since i can't recall any conversation about the first chapters being unrealistic, i don't see why you say it like that.

Anyways...why do you think that?  which first chapters(i mean of which book?)

Well, yes, it is unrealistic.  but it's not meant to be realistic, it's meant to be gory and funny.  If you read Enter, Frederick k Bower, there's a lot in there as well that's not realistic.  It's part of why i got into his writing, because it's so unlike other children authors

Did you read the original or the rewritten version of the second book?  Because personally I thought that the original was a lot better than the rewrite.  The difference is in small things, but mainly he kind of made it so that even if he continues the series, it wouldn't be set in the school anymore, and wouldn't be too much like Harry Potter (I suspect)
