Its hard to say because she cares about him and then later he tried to shoot her and Mrs Jones knew it would have missed anyway. Her protection of Alex seems to lessen a bit after that?

It's hard to tell what she's thinking until she gets some backstory... But i think she has had kids of her own and that's why she has a soft spot for Alex...
Come to think of it if there's that school think in Scorpia Rising, her kids could be there.
