Hello everyone, hydramate here. Welcome to the Role Play topic!
Basically you post in this topic as a character, according to a theme. You then play out a story with the characters.
You can create someone from scratch, or use an existing character. Remember to make an introduction post though, playing their entry and describing them.
THIS TOPIC'S THEME: Students vs TeachersIt's night and a group of students have gathered in front of their school. Their mission? To vandalise whatever they can during the night. There's only one problem: the teachers have been tipped off and are patrolling the corridors.
Can the students infiltrate the school and wreak havoc until dawn or will they all get caught and sent to the head's office?
How will they get in? Will they stick together but risk getting caught or will some people sacrifice themselves to let a bigger group slip past a teacher?
Oh, and once a student gets shut in the head's office, they can't come out. They can still help by using the things in the office though (microphone, chairs through windows, etc.).
Please keep this serious! You must read the long version of the rules at least once!Quick version of the rules:- Play using a character. No changing their characteristics once the game has started.
- Post at least 5 sentences while roleplaying. Use details! For the format, see below.
- When discussing the roleplay at the start, a minimum of 3 sentences is required.
- Don't kill other characters. If you kill yourself, you can't revive.
- *ME2005* is like a mod here. She can lock and make decisions. PM me if something is wrong.
- 1 page off-topic limit. After, it's a 24 hour lock.
- 3 locks means I might lock the topic indefinitely.
- Let the story finish. There will always be a new one after.
- Keep to the main board rules: no violence, flamimg, etc.
Long version of the rules:*
Everyone who wants to play must create a character. Name, age, personality, likes and dislikes, you can do what you like with it. Once you have chosen their characteristics though, please don't change them. There's nothing worse than finding out halfway through a game that your 25 year old girl is actually a 10 year old boy in disguise.
If you want to enter the story half way through, then try to sort out a plausible way of coming in with another member. Perhaps being a brother or a cousin or something.
*
All posts must follow this sort of format:I walk across the newly waxed floor, leaving mud everywhere. Wondering where Lily is, I look in every room.
"Lily! Where on earth are you?" I call, peering into the kitchen. "Oh!" I shriek, seeing the pile of scattered dishes on the floor.
It isn't the dishes that surprise me though, it is Lily, lying helplessly underneath them.
OOC: You know, I think we should try get the others to kidnap someone.
* Try to keep your posts quite long although, of course, sometimes there isn't much to say when you are in the heat of the action.
You must post at least 5 sentences though. No killing off other people's characters though. You can wound them but that's about as far as it goes. No reviving either, please.
Also,
if you want to add comments or whatever, type OOC before. (It means Out Of Character)
* There is also one other thing. I suppose you are wondering why bingo has started this topic and not me. Well, I'm not always around and so I've decided to recruit a helper. This time it is *ME2005*, next time it might be someone else if she is too busy. We'll see.
Anyway,
*ME2005* represents me. She has the responsibility of keeping everyone in line and this role play on topic. Her word is final here, and if anyone wants to contest it then PM me. Because she made the topic, she also has the power to lock it.
There is a one page off-topic limit. Any more and it will be locked for 24 hours. If she has to lock this thread more than 3 times, then I may lock it permanently. Only a mod can make that decision though.
* Now remember, this is a prototype. It's the first run. Hopefully it'll go smoothly, but I'll always be available if you have any questions/remarks/suggestions. Just send me a PM and I'll get onto it.
* Lastly, Rainbowstar posted some helpful rules in one of the old topics. I'm posting them here for you all to see and follow:
1) In the first couple of posts, decide what it is going to be about, and each person chooses a role. This role is his for the duration of the story (no changing roles!) as is the storyline (don't suddenly go from a story about superheroes, to a story about dragons)
Decide what each person can do at first, and stick to it, possibly with a natural evolution (for instance, someone who has the power to control water, will not suddenly have the power to control fire, but might eventually get the power to control the weather). A natural evolution does not happen suddenly! So no "and suddenly i realised i can also control the weather so I make it storm over you"
2) Posts must consist of more than a couple of words, unless it is a conversation going on between 2 characters. Use full sentences. And as always, try using correct spelling (there is a spell check option, use it)
So for instance (to keep the water power) "I make water come down on you" is not a good post, it should be more descriptive. The aim of role playing is that you act out a story that all players can imagine themselves in to(and possibly people who read it) So more along the lines of "I raise my hands, clasp them together, and a fountain of water leaves them, raining down on you"
3) This is a general, public forum. People of all creeds, backgrounds and ages come here, so no unnecessary violence, sexual behaviour, namecalling, racist slur,... of any kind! I understand that in some storylines, it's the good guys against the bad and you might end up in a fight, but keep it tasteful, don't go ripping off heads, and spouting out blood or anything of that sort!
4) Allow a story to finish. Role play stories do not have to go on endlessly because it gets boring after a while. If the story comes to a natural close, allow it, don't go suddenly inventing twists so it can go on for another couple of pages. Allow it to end, and when it has, ask a moderator to start another one, and depending on how this one went, we will or will not start one again.
5) Last but not least: Keep the storyline original. Don't go reenacting a known movie or book. You can choose a character that already exists elsewhere (though by real role players, this is considered very weak), but at least don't make the character do the exact same thing. So for instance, if you choose Spiderman, don't make him suddenly choose between a bus full of children or Mary-Jane
In case you guys are wondering: My brother used to do a lot of role playing (in real life) and I used to watch. It was very fun to watch, as long as people stick to the above mentioned rules, so yes, asides from the fact that this is a public forum, and I've had to add the rule on the violence/namecalling/whatever, these are the general rules and guidelines for any role playing game.
Have fun!
Another note: The introductions officially end Saturday the 14th of February, and the serious Roleplaying begins. After that, to enter, you must:
If you want to enter the story half way through, then try to sort out a plausible way of coming in with another member. Perhaps being a brother or a cousin or something.
Enjoy you guys!
