I actually disagree with this idea that the villains are "crazy"
They just have a very different way to see the world ie. they feel that evil is the better option. it doesn't make them insane, it just makes them severely morally corrupted.

Yeah... I've never liked it when people say someones insane or mentally ill when they've killed a load of people and enjoyed it or whatever... It just means they believe different things, have a different sense of morality and etc.

Actually they wouldn't think it is evil if they have a different way of seeing hte world. Everyone thinks that Hitler was evil and "crazy" but he never thought he was. he thought he was doing the best for Germany.
so the fact that their moral compass is off can impliy a ceratin mental illness that goes beyond just normal deravity
