It's not very hard to take off a watch while someone's asleep...honest, it said that he took the battery out while they were in Jakarta. =]

well not n my book because it said that  when he got caught by Major yu and woke up in the room that his watch was on the nightstand by the bed and he no longer had the belt on

He didn't leave the watch off, he just took the battery out, then put it back on. so it WAS on the bedside table when he woke up after Major Yu hit him, but it just didn't have the battery in it because Ash had taken it out.

i don't care if the watch would have worked or not. Let's say that it did work. MI6 gets the signal and immediately head out to rescue AR. The problem is that AR would already have arrived in darwin before MI6 even came close. By the time they arrive AR would be miles away from royal blue.
