I think it showed that Alex really did have friends-not everything was lost. He lost Ash, but he still has Sabina. He can be a kid still.

lol, when I was reading Snakehead, all throughout it I knew that Sabina would be in it because i'd heard it somewhere, but it got really late in the book and she still didn't appear...i'd just started thinking they were just false rumours when Sabina appeared  right at the end! lol what a brief appearance - almost like a tag-on lol

a teenager is a kind of kid, just like a toddler is a type of kid, it's referring to your age, but you're still a child.  And yes you are a kid.  Heck, I teach 18 year olds and I still refer to them as kids, because that's what they are.  Until you take up the responsibilities of an adult (steady job, pay taxes, move away from your parents,...)  you're a kid to me
